Found it maybe....but he admits he did not name it. Then 15 years go by and others found it with NO HELP FROM JIM. That is very important to the history. John, Marc and Kevin R found it all on there own. They climbed their for 2 years calling it the Drop Zone. They tried to get Jim to leave Ozone and come over but he was too into the Zone. Then he finally got tired of the ozone and came over to the Drop Zone. About that time Kevin got sick and Marc moved out of the state. The name had stuck and NOBODY called it anything but the Drop Zone. Then Jim one day decided to rename the crag that already had a name. And from that day forward the new crew (which includes you Bill) only knew it as the Farside. I love Jim and he is one of my best friends but IMO he does not get to rename this place simply because he is JIM Opdyke. I think he and all who call it The farside are stepping on the toes who came before you and gave it a name. Which includes the late Kevin R. This information above is very important to the actual history of the Drop Zone.

Wow....last time I checked. Young Warriors and FD were different routes.

Jesus fucking crist. Just go replace with a bolt and nobody will know. Except the folks who climb this route and I promise all of them (exept JH) will be thanking god you replaced pins (OLD FUCKING SCHOOL) with new awesome bolts. ALL the pins on FD should be replaced with bolts.

Still the greatest thread of all time. Life long friendships were ended over this thread!!! Can you believe it. When Tim Olsen called me and asked me directly what do we want to call this crag....I originally gave into pressure and called it The Far Side....I regret that now and should have stuck to my guns and called it The Drop Zone...which is its original name given by the original developers who found this place without the help of Jim or Dave Dick. Too bad Andrew (Pink) had to have an ego about this place....a place he has yet to visit. Oh well....you learn and you live. Greatest thread of all time. Here here to the Drop Zone!!!!!

Feeling stoked for tomorrow as well. BEACON....!!!!!! Wow...I saw Joe had his usual July14th complain and be negative fest....for the first time I chose not read any of his post. I feel so much better now that I only read positive change going on at Beacon. Thanks to all involved who make Beacon and its climbing population thrive. Young Warriors baby!!!!
