  1. I think it is called John Day Memorial. It is all on- track skiing (skating) so no waypoints etc...
  2. Does anyone know of any ice in the Diamond lake/ Crater lake area? I am new to OR and am doing a nordic race in that area this weekend. Thought I could hit up some ice while there......if any exists....
  3. REI in Denver has a starbucks in the bottom. This is perfect for Bend. I've never seen more yuppies in one place before
  4. If you are a good skier, and fit, you could do it in a day. You would have to start at Dutchman flat and follow sno mo trails up, or there is a ski trail that goes to the right of sparks lake up to the plateau below Broken top. Then the fastest way is up the west ridge. You will be making your own trail to get to that point. there is no actual trail and sno mos aren't allowed back there. I would estimate 3-4 hrs one way depending on your ski ability. Also, its a lot faster on the way back.
  5. Heels down. When I first began climbing, I bought a book that said toes down. This is contrary to about every other thing I've read or heard of. I don't know why the auther thought this, but I would recomend "Moutaineering- the freedom of the Hills" as a really good reference book for climbing.
