  1. How about $300 shipped? I'll also sell the boots and crampons separately. Any interest?
  2. For Sale: A pair of barely used La Sportiva Llhotse GTX boots in size 44.5 plus A pair of Grivel G-10 new-matic crampons (front toe basket and heel bail) with antibot plates in an REI crampon bag. Both are practically new and in great condition. $300 for everything + shipping (or pickup in Portland).
  3. RE: questions about signals. A "Y" does signal Yes. To indicate the direction of travel, an arrow <- or "K" is typically used. N
  4. I'm always wary about buying used safety equipment, but does anyone have opinions about buying used avy transceivers? Is this as stupid as buying a used climbing rope or is it a good way to save some bucks. Thanks for the info.
  5. For a cheap alti/baro/therm watch check out the Timex Helix-- on sale at campmor for $49.
  6. Anyone use this stuff? Worth the $? How 'bout the special paper?
  7. haven't used 'em myself, but climing magazine seems to like 'em. http://www.climbing.com/equipment/camptiberon/
  8. Anyone been to Meadows since it opened Saturday? How bad is it? I'm jonesin' for my ski fix! And (most importantly) should I call in sick to work tomorrow or wait for some real snow?
  9. my 2 bits... screw the equations about how much you should spend. don't buy a typical engagement ring (diamond solitaire) where the only difference is how big and nice the diamond is. buy something unusual, buy something vintage, buy something that you know she'll love and don't worry if it costs $50 or $5000. just make sure it shows personality and that she'll like looking at it for the next 50 years. for something unusual in pdx check out gilt on trendy-third and maloy's on 10th (by the 9th & yamhill smartpark).
  10. Anyone out there have experience with this pack? I've checked out the Switch 40+5--seems like a well-conceived winter pack that holds a load solidly, but a little on the small side for a 2-3 day tour. I haven't been able to check out the 55+5 in person to see if it is as comfortable. Any input on this or similar ski touring/mountaineering pack is much appreciated.
