    Le Absinthe

POPULAR LORE HAS IT that absinthe, the potent wormwood-flavored alcohol, causes hallucinations, epileptic-like attacks, and bouts of madness for those who drink it. Scientists studying absinthe in recent years have shown that modern versions of the spirit contain too little thujone, the key psychoactive chemical present in the wormwood herb, Artemisia absinthium, to cause the reported psychedelic effects. But the myths about absinthe being more drug than drink persist in part because of century-old tales about famous artists and writers who heavily imbibed absinthe and vacillated between periods of high creativity and insanity. http://pubs.acs.org/cen/email/html/cen_86_i18_8618sci2.html

  4. God. those vocals are so damn bad.
  5. They are less than worthless. They require not just any oval biner, but ones with wide gates and shallow curves, and even then they work like crap.
  6. Funky but cool Walrus "Hurricane Hole tent". Excellent condition, all nylon and seams in near perfect shape. Warm as hell (good for the winter, marginal in the summer). I'm 6'5" and fit pretty well. Somebody's page: http://members.tripod.com/the_cats_pjs/id1.html

  12. rediculous? Ridiculous. QD's? People get the entire contents of their cars jacked at Little Si. That would warrant a FULL CAPITAL LETTER TITLE. Old grotty QD's? Not so much.
  13. Check out Vedauvoo. Also, most everything in UT is a weekend away. There are some nice alpine routes in RMNP, but yes, all in all, after the Cascades, you are going to be disappointed. "You call that speck of a snowfield a *glacier* ?" hahahahaha!

    Rush

The most impressive technical musicians who ever laid down a rock track. The vocals *suck* but the rest of it is staggeringly good.
  19. I often take one or two shorter Bugaboos (#5 and 6?) on adventure climbs. For dicey rap anchors, or building a super bomber rescue anchor, they can't be beat, and they aren't really that heavy. I just found a chossy roadcut and spent a few hours bashing and pulling to get a feel.
  20. Even 10-15 yrs ago they still had some good ski wear and outwear in the catalogs. "Let's make casual clothes for soccer moms!" "No, let's make golf clothes! And yoga pants!" "Let's make 'core outdoor clothes again!" Good luck differentiating from MtnHardware, TNF, and all the other lame ass wanna-be outdoor brands.

    FUBAR

The pooch has been screwed, thrice.
  22. Another reason to remove the straps in the BC is to avoid getting your shoulder dislocated when skiing trees or in death crust. The old school plastic split-in-the-middle grips are sweet, but getting hard to find.
