There is a lot of rock along the highway between Kalispell and Polson (which runs along the Flathead Lake shore). Not sure of the quality, though.

In Libby (near Lake Koocanusa, North of Kalispell) there is a shop downtown called Epperson Mountaineering. Great guy in there and I am sure he has some crags in mind. Also, access to the Cabinet Mountain Range highpoint, Snowshoe Peak, is in between Kalispell and Libby. Watch for Grizzlies!

WOW! Great feedback and activity. Thanks for the input. I will get a map and check it out. I talked to a Ranger a few weeks via email and he estimated a 2-3 mile approach to the Killeen TH by the weekend of 5/22, but if I can get access by another, closer route I will. Can anyone tell me how this route compares to the Southern, standard route up Hood? I did Hood via this route this past March and loved it. Is the North Cleave more difficult? Thanks again.

Does anyone have experience and/or advice for the North Cleave route up Adams for this time of year? I plan on doing it in about a week. I was told I would have to snowshoe in, but what about the climb, itself? Thanks.
