  1. I think chucK's got a point. Save your energy for the serious stuff...you might think sloth and apathy is pretty bad (and I'm sure it is hard for a parent to deal with, especially since you & your wife are so active yourselves), but it could be worse, like he could be getting arrested, hurting others, whatever. On another point, I think a trekking vacation in Tibet sounds awesome, but it's probably the last thing that your son would be into right now, judging from what you've said about him. And it wouldn't be much fun for you if he wasn't into it. Save it for 5-10 years down the line when he realizes that you're an OK guy after all.
  2. I have a sense of entitlement.
  3. Hmmm...did we read the same article?
  4. I hate my job too. But I like to eat, and sleep indoors sometimes, and I don't want to work at the Plaid Pantry. What're you going to do?
  5. So Carl, how do you think CCH, or any company facing this kind of PR problem, should go about restoring consumer faith in their products? Seriously.
  6. You think a company that batch produces when they feel like it isn't "amateurish"? Doesn't mean they can't do good quality machining. QC is a garbage in garbage out procedure. Comeon, tell me this isn't a f'ing surprise. yeah, but if they can't even identify the stoned climber that produced the shit in which batch they are in deep shit... Exactly. I'd just like to know exactly how half-assed their operation is.
  7. yeah, well "hearsay" or marketing drivel describes most publically published QC procedures to my mind. Well, something would be better than nothing. If they can't even get it together to form an effective PR response, it makes me wonder if the rest of their operation is amateurish too. I've never had reason before to doubt the aliens on my rack...but now I'll probably be wondering about how good they are every time I place one.
  8. I wouldn't mind hearing something from CCH about their quality control procedures. I think it's a little more than hearsay at this point.
  9. After a (very) little bit of research, I'm able to answer my own question. I've never seen anything this dumb.
  10. This part intrigues me the most: Someone want to educate me on what "rock crawling" is? Does it involve 4x4's?
  11. On the third page and no one's posted a picture of that Warrant album cover....amazing.
  12. Pretty much all hardass movie characters are based on Chuck Norris, I think.
  13. Don't say anything bad about Chuck Norris if you're near a lake, river, pond or marsh; otherwise he will come up out of the water with his AK-47 already firing. ...from Urban Dictionary, which has many amusing entries...did you know you can use "Chuck Norris" as a verb or adjective? Examples below: Did you see the way Stewart Chuck Norrised that fucking guy's neck? That's awesome. Did you see the way Travis slapped that bitch? That's Chuck Norris.
  14. Oleg, you can borrow my shovel if you want...it's not super light, though. Let me know. Dan
  15. Is that what you kids are calling it these days?
  16. please tell me that took research!

    DHL

I recently had a problem with DHL too - they delivered some documents late to one of my vendors and forced me to change a schedule. Never remember having a problem like that with FedEx. So, maybe not as unreliable as Gary's advisor or the bad TA, but clownpunchers indeed.
  18. Get well soon, Pete. You guys are making me think that ice climbing might be a little bit dangerous.
  19. Wow, a new expression to add to the already bloated climber's lexicon...but it makes me wonder: if you don't do the shit start, can you still get the brownpoint?
  20. According to the NPS , you can ride your snowmobile on certain roads in Rainier National Park. Which I think is a shame, but whatever.
