    gear slings

no hard feeling about you turning my thread gay squid. i found it funny.
  13. i realize they're all pretty much the same, but what do y'all use/what is your favorite? which ones do you hate? do hardmen really just use a runner instead of some fancy padded sling? do you use a different sling for cragging vs. alpine? discuss. also, this isn't meant to be a discussion on why you should rack your gear on your harness instead of on a sling, but if it goes there, so be it.
  14. i just got my copy from the lake erie grocery on my lunch break. the guide looks great. the old man at the store said they only have about 10 copies left on-hand.
  15. clipping one loop means the entire load would be on one strand, clipping both loops would means the load would be carried by both strands.

  17. i'm going to buy up that 30' in bellingham to sell for profit!
  18. well i was up by the hannegan pass trailhead yesterday (was able to drive the whole way with my outback, had to use the shovel once) and decided to try the GPS on my cell phone (motorola i530), i had no cell service. it worked, and gave me these coordinates: N 48° 54.608' W 121° 35.631 Est Accur: 15 feet. It looked good on the map i had, and it looked good when I input the coordinates at topozone.com too. i guess you can get a cell phone w/ GPS that will work when you don't have cel service! map
  19. forest service updated the conditions on their website yesterday. the road doesn't look to good for my outback. "Marginal access to MP 1.4 for 4WD. High clearance & carry chains beyond. Closed past Yellow Aster Butte trail head due to a rock slide."
  20. does anyone have any info on this road? the forest service website isn't real helpful beyond the fact that it is blocked past the yellow aster butte trailhead. i'm wondering how drivable the road is up that point. any info would be appreciated...
