  1. I showed up from 7-7:20 and just got a lot of cigarette smoke blown at me from the bikers outside. It was pretty depressing.

    Your ideal town

So I've lived in Twisp (well, part time) and as cool as it is you either need to be indepedently wealthy or retired (i.e: don't work), earn minimum wage in the service industry, work for the state, or be a doctor/nurse/vet. Since those don't apply to me, it's not sustainable in my book (driving 7 hours each weekend, which I've been doing for almost a year) Which is why I'm moving to Nederland CO! 25 minutes to Boulder, 10 minutes to a ski resort (and an hour from Winter Park I think) great climbing, hiking and running trails, 8300 feet, and a frozen dead guy festival...And if you want to go out at night and want see a band, go to an art exhibit or eat in a nice restaurant you can go to Boulder or Denver. Oh, and I forgot to mention the 300 days of sun per year.
  4. I work at Microsoft. Can you match my salary?

Wet, but a good amount of snow. Snow line at around 5400', maybe a bit lower on the northern slopes.

Agreed. The Winthrop brew pub is overpriced and sucks! Plus it's too full of strollers.

Antlers is kinda sketchy but they do open up for breakfast before 6 which is nice if you are heading out early.

Good point. And munch on $5 graham crackers while you're shopping.

Mazama has locals? Seems like it's all high priced ski cabins and rentals. Go to Antlers in Twisp if you want to hang out with the locals.

Heheh. Right you are. I did get a lapdance from a lezzie trapeze artist the other night, so I still got it!!!

I was hungry and -- I keep hoping they'll get better or I'll arrive in between the caravans of Subarus. My mistake.

    The Mazama Store

Just because they are small does not make them good. Second, they are chock full of tourist crap--you know the $25 Nalgenes with the goat on them and the hats and ponchos and all that...point being they EXiST for tourists...and when you finally want an overpriced sandwich they can't take your order! grrr! And btw, Mazama's overrated. Twisp is where it's at!

    The Mazama Store

How hard is it to make a frickin sandwich? Those people are the slowest in the world. This Sunday I was in there as four subarus full of lesbian cyclists came in right before me. So I try to get on "line" but more and more lesbians kept coming. So I tried to order anyway. No luck, the sandwich lady wasn't listening. Finally I just gave up and tried to buy ginger snaps at the counter. That too, proved too difficult for the counter guy to figure out. The thing is every time I go in there, it's the same thing: a group they can't handle. You'd think they'd have the crowd control down by now!!
  15. Newhalen is like a creepy horror movie town full of zombies. Plus, it's always raining there. Drive east and head to Mazama.
  16. Waz on thurs? Btw, your avatar reminds me of Squid. Has anyone seen/heard from him?
  17. I know, I suck. I got stuck at work till 9
  18. OK, If you insist, I'll go!
  19. At the Boxcar AleHouse. Yes, they have outdoor seating & cheap beer. http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&um=1&q=boxcar+alehouse&near=Seattle,+WA&fb=1&latlng=47650465,-122382062,14624673378433758954
  20. I don't know that the reference was anti-Korean. One of the photos is from "the world's largest" ice climbing gym in Seoul... It may be the future of the sport when the planet heats up s'more! http://www.o2o2.co.kr/eng/ice_climbing/ice_01.asp
  21. Yeah the article is BS. I'm sure it's hard to be a parent, working or not. But it's really easy to be a bad parent. You can see them everywhere, letting their kids run around public places screaming and out of control, and the parents helplessly follow and pick up after them...I see this all over the place.
  22. Yeah I saw that...looks totally bogus. They don't factor in a few things: the average housewife has neither the training nor the skill to be a "psychologist" much less a "CEO" and may in fact do more harm than good in those departments (at least my mom did!). Second, housewives don't get performance reviews--no one fires them if they slack off. Unlike CEOs, they have no real consequences for mistakes they make, except for maybe a headache when their kid cries or a stain on the carpet. Unlike psychologists, you can't sue them for messin' with your mind (though some would argue that *is* their job...)
