  1. That post barely made sense. Aside from its contradicting statements....
  2. How many pitches is that? Fairly solid? Big scary run-outs? I've been wanting to check out goose egg but usually end up at the bend...
  3. Wanting to get on some long moderate trad routes mostly. I'm a bit rusty because I didnt do too much trad last season. Currently, I'm leading confidently at 5.8 trad, 5.10 sport. I'm guessing after a few days of long routes and maybe a day of shorter more technical climbing, I'll be back on the trad bike. I can definitely follow up to 5.10 on trad and easier 11 sport (with hangs). I've been doing trad for 8 years, and alpine for 5, and am a very safe, competent leader. It would be best if we could get out in the next to weekends to familiarize and get on the same page for efficiency's sake. I also need to make sure my partner is someone I can trust, because there are a lot of sketcy people out there. Hit me up! email: cascade_peaks at yahoo dot com for fastest response since I dont check this site every day.
  4. I'll be there from 3/26 until 4/3. I'm flying in so I cant split gas. But I can climb with you for at least a few days...
  5. Lost a pair of beat up La Sportiva Miuras at Vantage last Sunday evening at the Sunshine Wall. I also lost my chalk bag. I think I just forgot to throw them in my pack as dusk was approaching. There are some very unique features on the shoes that prove they are mine. please call 206-251-0548 if you found them. THANKS!
  6. SIGNS YOU MAY HAVE A SMALL PENIS: 1. You belong to the religious right 2. You drive a convertible 3. You drive a Hummer 4. When you just took a whipper, get lowered, and can have a face to face conversation with that cute crag betty without anyone feeling a bit uncomfortable. 5. Your name has way too many consonants in it, especially K's 6. Condoms dont seem to stay on. 7. You measure it every day. 8. When you measure it, you include fractions 9. It often pops out during intercourse. 10.Your significant other mentions that size doesn't matter (it does)
  7. That huge cock thing that blacks have seems to make up for all the racial oppression. Hell, that half the reason they faced it to begin with. The small-dicked WASP and KKK members were afraid the well-hung Negroes would try to satisfy their wives and succeed. Hilarious.
  8. So wait, a man having sex with a bicycle is forbidden but a woman mounting the "big chocolate dildo" is not considered sex with an inanimate object? Sex laws are so inconsistent and often illogical. Now this guy having sex with pavements, I can't even begin to imagine what that looks like.
  9. Sorry, that's too simplistic. Just like saying Iraq is "ALL ABOUT OIL". There are multiple factors coming into play, partly related to money (driving the direction of news reporting - what topics to cover). But once a topic is deemed "newsworthy", then other biases come into play. And "THE MAN" is not completely to blame for the first part. WE ARE. If the news were erudite, well-done, and went far beyond sound bites... people would not watch. It's the collective ADD of the American public. Now you are beginning to make some sense. I mean, who can watch CSPAN for more than about 15 minutes without falling asleep. But its there. If you have the attention span, and can suffer through the minutae that comes with government, there is substance there. But again, no one watches that stuff. Who has the time in this day and age? How many people actually read more than a few paragraphs into any newspaper article? For the record, I usually do. And then you get down to voting for a candidate; let's face it, it is quite unlikely that a single person's vote matters. IF you really stand for a certain candidate, you are much better serving the democratic process by joining the campaign and influencing other people's votes. Otherwise, is it really worth the effort to do extensive research into a candidate's voting record, and whatnot? Anyone know of any good websites that consolidate this kind of information?
  10. oh conspiracy theories! And Bush is responsible for 9/11
  11. Just out of curiosity, why do these guys that barely have a chance in hell of being elected even bother campaigning? e.g. Kucinich, Joe Biden, Jessee Jackson. Are they simply delusional? Is it more of a way to platform their pet issues? Don't get me wrong, I love Kucinich, and would vote for him, if he ever received more than 5% of the vote. Successful political campaigns in this country follow a fairly simple formula: Raise a lot of money (aka sell-out to special interests), buy television air-time, and convince the major networks that you have a chance. And securing a spot in debates. Oh and avoid any faux-pauxs, no matter how benign (Howard Dean). Our "Democracy" is a fucking joke.
  12. The nikwax I use doesn't look like earwax... well, my not earwax at least. I'd say it looks more like skim milk. Probably works as well too. I use my boots very often in no-snow conditions & never experience significant wetness from sweat. The boot-puddle so far has a perfect correlation with wet snow deep enough to contact the upper. My socks are dry at the ankle, so it's not from snow coming in the top either. Okay, foot sweat is ruled out. yeah I guess wet snow is when it is the worst. Ah, the skim milk stuff I believe is for synthetic leathers. Does it come out of a bottle with a foam pad on top? The earwax stuff is for full-grain leather and is simply in a large toothpaste-like tube. I've had even less success with the skim milk stuff. IT only seemed to last for a few hours or less. At least I get a good day or two out of the earwax stuff.
  13. Dude, I have had the same exact experience. I spend over an hour rubbing the shit in (the stuff that comes in the tube and looks like earwax), even in those hard to get places where the leather meets the sole. It seemed to last about a day and a half on Rainier last year before my toes were soaked. And mind you, while we did go through some scree, it wasn't much. (Kautz Route) Maybe it was the ice? The only other possibility is foot sweat, but sweaty toes before the rest of the foot?
  14. I believe that is considered sarcasm, not irony. Stop masturbating to Alanis Morissette albums.
  15. Has anyone noticed Chuck Norris and some 'tard standing next to Huckabee in his recent stump speeches? WTF is up with that? Chuck Norris is so lethal that only retards are dumb enough to stand near him. Well, retards and Mike Huckabee. Norris = Huckabee + huge boner
  16. I don't care if you vote for both parties. Lets hear those endorsements or mudslinging attacks! Yeah democracy. Maybe we will end up with a "Climbers for Kucinich" group going! Lol, right.
  17. Ah yes, another cop-bashing thread by the ignorant. You know, yesterday I went out to eat, and the waiter was rude to me. So now I hate all waiters. This one deputy was making a very bad judgement call. Please direct anger towards him, not towards law enforcement in general. Being in law enforcement, I am going to give you real advice on what to do, not this "I saw it on TV" advice that so many people want to give. What he was doing was technically legal, but very bad judgement and common sense. At the scene his name should have been taken. (It will be on the tow paperwork if you got it.) You should have asked for his supervisor to respond to the scene and that you want to make a complaint at that time. Being that this is a day later, and you may or may not have his name: do this. Call the snohomish county sheriff office that patrols that area. Ask for a sergeant or lieutenant. Now here is the hard part; calmly, truthfully and respectfully explain what happened and why towing the cars was a bad idea. To stop anyone from responding stating "I pay their salary, I should be able to be rude and crass and they still listen to me," I will cut that off now. Being human, if you start lying (easy to spot) or being rude or use comments like "i pay your salary," You will simply make the supervisor you are talking to tune you out, thinking you are blowing things way out of proportion. By talking calmly and respectfully, you sound like a sane average citizen and will be listened to. After talking to a supervisor, write a letter and call the actual Sheriff's office. You won't speak to the Sheriff, but your communication will get to him. After that, call and write to the Snohomish Executive (the equivalent of Ron Sims.) All this will get the message across that towing the cars is not right. Yes, it is a lot of work, but bitching will not change anything, while taking the effort to do these things will. Hope this will help. Dear Cop, It has been my experience that roughly 3 out of 5 cops are pricks at the very least. The personality trait is often required for the job. The problem is that it is a fine line between enforcing the law, justice, and overstepping the police's appointed authority. Would you agree with me that cops are basically judges with guns that must make a ruling in real-time? I've experienced cops treating me with respect and compassion, and then I've experienced the complete opposite, regardless of my own behavior. The main problem in my mind is a lack of oversight. We don't have a good system to police the police. The officers who abuse their authority rarely face repercussions unless the press becomes involved. Cops protect their own, and there is little interest to weed out the bad seeds rather than "keeping things quiet." Am I off here?
  18. I busted a lung laughing when he breaks out the duct tape! Precious. Welcome to the Jungle - a bit too ambitious a song for skatepelling. I thought he was actually gonna do a run for a ropelength as his friend let the rope speed thru a low-friction device or something. L_A_M_E. Almost a cool idea though. You cant really call that the first skate descent of the apron when they only went down 50-feet of it. Thats like saying you tagged an FA on El Cap by climbing a single pitch.
  19. By that same token Woodinville, Chealis and Centralia should be abandoned. Good point. Becuase I do not believe in FEMA. Especially for all those hurricane folk. If you decide to live in the path of hurricanes, then you gotta pay for it. Your choice. Yeah, those selfish bastards. I mean, any population has the means to go live anywhere they want. The Indians should have just abandoned all of America when Europeans began driving them off their land. Obviously, it was a losing battle. Who cares that they spent their entire lives there, that their ancestors lived there, that they truly felt connected to that piece of the Earth. Same goes for New Orleans. All those poor folk should just hit the Trail of Tears and go live on a reservation for the underclasses. Its one thing if you build a mansion on a Sea Cliff and think you should have the government bail you out when it topples into the sea. Its another thing if you have grown up in a place all your life, have all your family there, and dont have the means to move somewhere else and actually have a better life for yourself. And of course there would be ample jobs waiting in this new place to accommodate all of them.
  20. Wow, this thread made it three whole pages as a well-reasoned discussion. And then there was page 4... myself included. My 2 cents: I ran up $30,000 in credit when I first moved here, had serious health problems that prevented me from holding down a full-time job, and just ignored the idea that one day I would have to face the debt created by this "easy money". I had perfect credit before then, always paid my bills, didnt overspend, blah-blah-blah. The funny thing is, despite my lack of income, for at least 3 years, my creditors still continued to lend me money and even raised my credit limits a few times. I was doing minimum payments which kept them happy because I was really racking up the interest. I knew eventually I would hit a wall. But I was between a rock and a hard place. I needed to pay my rent, treat my medical condition, and buy food. My income was only about 1/3 to 1/2 of what I was spending. Shame on me for overborrowing. But shame on my creditors for giving the money in the first place to someone that obviously was headed toward defaulting. Result: I have an atrocious credit rating. I have defaulted on 30,000 in loans. After the nipple of free money was taken away, I managed to make enough and live within my means (coupled by the restoration of my health). My creditors are out $30,000. Well, I guess they really only lent me about $22,000 and the rest was interest. Then they sold the debt to collectors so maybe they recovered about half of it. Now the debt collectors are screwed. It will probably be at least 5 years before I could possibly settle this debt. Analysis: Both myself and the creditor made a poor decision. But I have learned from my mistakes. Have they? I probably should have declared bankruptcy three years ago. I have learned how to plan a budget and stick to it (as long as life does'nt throw any more curveballs my way in the near future). So yeah, a little pain hurts, I wont be able to get a loan on a car or house for a long time, but thats okay. I don't need to have a brand new car. Rent is still relatively cheap. I am mobile and dont want the burden of a house even if I could swing the payments. SO let them eat their mistakes now so those mistakes don't snowball on down the road.
  21. Finally, they figured out how to turn humans into flying :pagetop:'s! That seems too cool to be real.
  22. hey stonegardens. I've noticed since the replacement of the STONES with PADS that many people are hurting, spraining, breaking their ankles. I witnessed at least 2 incidents on the day after the bouldering comp. I have talked to other members and have heard of other incidents second-hand. SO, it seems like this is a real problem and I would like to know what Stone Gardens stance is on this. Is something going to be done? The pads are very stiff in most people's opinion. Will these be replaced? The other issue is of landing on a pad edge. I'm guessing this is where most of the injuries have occurred. I thought the reason to get rid of the stones was to improve the air quality, but do employees notice if its much better now? I still see big clouds of dust circulating in the air. Maybe its time to get stricter on the never enforced "NO LOOSE CHALK" policy. Thanks for hearing me out.
