kevin,
you even troll when it's about a place you love; makes no sense. do you really want a bunch of sport climbs at beacon?
if this gets moved to spray does that mean i now post in spray
joseph,
why can you replace any bolts you want but others can not? i know you do not call and ask permission for every bolt you replace. if you wanted to replace that bolt - you would.
permission to replace existing fixed hardware is annoying at best.
bill,
stewart and i must have just missed you on sunday, as we left after being rained out. didn't see anyone else there. sounds like saturday was fun for you at your new wall.
jport,
i can't remember the names off the top of my head but when i get back to bend i will fill you in on route names and grades. off the top of my head, i remember them being a 5.7, 5.8 and 5.10a.
most likely thursday and friday afternoon unless someone wants to do a morning session ( looking west ) and i'd be game for that too.
ideally climber would be leading climbs between ground zero and steppenwolf. my first choice would be flying swallow.
i'm coming up to portland this week and would love to take some photos of climbers on any of the long column routes. if anyone is up for this please comment here or pm me.
i will not need any assistance getting to where i'm shooting from, so all you'll have to do is show up with partner and climb.
this thread is about a benefit for kevin rauch. this is not about beacon rock; climbing rangers, and who should or shouldn't be taking them climbing. i mean no disrespect as i'm friends with all of you.
the rauch factor:
pardon my ignorance, but what approach slab pitch are you referring to?
as you know i'm moving back soon so you can count me in on some scrubbin' and cleanin'.
the main purpose of this event is to raise money for local climber kevin rauch and his family; the bonus is you get a nice 50+ page color guidebook to ozone.
there will also be a silent auction; slideshow; music and good people to be around.
so come on out for a great night and worthy cause.
i'd still say dastardly is the best 5.9 pitch on beacon though.
oh, gotcha kevin.
pink, oh pink - when are you coming for a lap up the mighty beacon?
denalidave: did i meet you up on big ledge a month or so ago? you were saying you could see your house almost from up there?
