  1. What hapened with the site?

Anyone else having trouble loading the home page? I try on my iphone and just get this with safari or chrome. If I go to a sub page it loads just fine.
  2. [TR] Shuksan, Icy, Ruth - Nooksack Traverse 03/01/2019

Yikes! But glad it worked out!
  3. ice climbing 2018/2019 OR/WA Ice Conditions

Grrr, why'd I have to go and break my wrist mountain biking two weeks ago?!? Go get it folks and post TRs for me!
  4. Little Big Chief

Here is the route we took, now I'm one step closer to a TR! I think Martin's route started farther right towards the snow patch and angled up those ramps to catch up with the last few straight up pitches we did. The obvious point Kuckuzka pointed out looks like the best rock and probably fun climbing but with little natural pro as far as we could tell, but that isn't the summit. We had another 15 minutes of ridge scrambling once we topped out in this photo.
  5. I love that area too, thanks for sharing your TR!
  6. [TR] Buckhorn Mountain - High Traverse 11/18/2018

Nice, I love this that time of year. I camped on the ridge between buckhorn and marmot pass once in late November and watched the clouds fill up the valleys in the evening with the sun setting on clear skies above. Amazing!

  8. [TR] Three Queens - SE Shoulder 10/21/2018

A couple friends of mine skies over that way and down the valley north of summit chief this spring. I still need to do a TR about going in to the north face of little summit chief based on his pics. Thanks for sharing some good fall scrambling!
  9. [TR] McMillan Spire - South Face to West Ridge 09/28/2018

Thanks, those are the trips our lady of the Picketts gives us!
  10. Old Kloke Book "One Day Winter Climbs"

    Me too! This sounds interesting.
  11. Glacier Peak Advice

I skied it in May which was great, but I can’t imagine not having an axe at least. It’s still chilly and firm up there at times, even if not technically freezing. Way worth the weight to just cruise up/down the snow and not have to pick away at the choosy rock if you have that option.
  12. [TR] Johannesburg - NE Rib 1957 10/13/2018

    Cool, nice work!
  13. CascadeClimbers.com Turns 17

    Wow, happy bday cc.com!
  14. question Light alpine shoes?

I just got a pair of Kayland Plume Micro boot from Sierra Trading Post. They are replacing my worn out Salewas and seem like they will do well for a similar light boot purpose. I haven't worn em outside yet though.
  15. Cool, I've only been up there on skis in the spring. Looks beautiful right now.
  16. Wow, I'm not sure I still want to go there, but there are plenty of other things still on the list! What a great TR!
  17. question Light alpine shoes?

I have some Salewa Mountain Trainers that have worked well for me for some of these situations. They err more towards mountain boot than rock shoe, but climb fairly well for a light boot and better than your average hiking shoe. The current model is a bit changed though so I can't comment on it, (and now there is also an "alp trainer mid" that looks more hiking boot like). You are right though, there aren't really many good options that do both rock and snow well.
  18. [TR] Juno Tower - Clean Break 07/30/2018

Looks fun, you can't feel the heat in the pictures!
  19. Cool, looks like a good time, I love chimneys!
  20. [TR] Cruiser - S Corner 06/16/2018

That brings back some good memories! One of my first Olympic rock routes, I led on my brand new rack of 4 cams and some nuts I brought back from Russia. Glad you got back there to finish it!
  21. Nice work, thats a full days work even with 2 of 3!
  22. What hapened with the site?

Yeah, I did that on the old site I think. It's kind of cool to look up what routes were climbed in "August" over the longer history. It helps get around the rush when a single TR is posted somewhere saying something is in good shape. At least if you see a bunch of TRs for a route in a particular month for a few different years, you might guess at your chances. I haven't tried to find a way to do this on the new site yet. :-)
