  1. Good job reclaiming the old routes from the munge. Our crags need upkeep and it feels good to get out and do the dirty work.
  2. Spring cleanup time on the Granite ranch means I have a couple bundles of burnable wood for der visiting climbers. This stuff is not pretty to look at, but will make a nice camp fire to cook your brats over. Some pine and some cut lumber scrap. Wood will come bundled for transport. The bundles went pretty quick last year so get them while they are hot. Shoot me a PM.
  3. VK has put up some route updates on his site. Check them out. Some of you may not know this, but VK is interested in hearing about your new or refurbished route updates as well as pictures your herioc efforts. The idea is that you don't have to wait for a couple years to find out about new developments. He is reportedly also interested in donations of frosty beverages left on his doorstep from parties thankful for sound anchors and munge free routes on good Cascade granite. Leavenworth Rock
  4. Lots of great shots folks! The photo of the chain in the moss is very cool. It's amazing some of the relics you find out there.
  5. Going through my old pictures on the site and saw this gem from Red Rocks. Post up yer best picture of manky mank. The winner will recieve the prestigious gold bashie award for excellence in funk.
  6. Just got back from Roatan/ Utila. Fantastic! Leave your climbing shoes at home. Bring a mask/ snorkel/ fins instead. Plenty of time to struggle up some backwoods crumbly rock when your are back home. Go enjoy some warm, 100 foot visibility water, swim with the fish.
  7. Tele and Blackhead are correct on all counts. Check out some of Shane's other short films. The kayak one also features Super Dave and some great whitewater footage.
  8. And here as well, different video: http://icicle.tv/index.php?/Video/Sport/leavenworth-rock-climbing.html

  11. [img:left]http://a5.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc6/184318_155564944500055_100552343334649_328168_4883922_n.jpg[/img]
  12. Industrial carabiners have a safety factor, usually 5:1. Recreational carabiners have a breaking strength, the listed number is 'it'.
  13. From your photo I believe I climbed part of this route in the summer of 2002. The popular Backbone and Serpintine routes had parties so my friend and I climbed the path of least resistance to the top of the 2nd snow field. The climbing was easy 3rd-5th unroped scrambling in summer. A roped pitch at around 5.10/ A1 brought us back up onto the Backbone below the fin and on to the top. The crux pitch found me nearly barfing with fear, but it worked out.
  14. They search checked bags, and your bag will get searched as it will be full of interesting looking tidbits.
  15. I drove up the canyon yesterday to walk the dogs. Most everything in the canyon fell down. Hubba hubba is a big brown streak running down the hill.
  16. Those of you feeling left out are welcome to come over and shovel the 2-4 feet of frozen crud in my yard. Great training!
  17. John was quite a character, and will be missed by many. The calls and emails from the Vegas crew have been non stop all day. Nobody knows what to think.
  18. I'm no ice climber, but I've often looked at those road cuts a couple miles up the Icicle as possible mixed training areas. A little close to the road, but it might fit the bill for you winter climber types.
  19. You should go back up there and see if they need a hand. Routes like the one you describe involve a lot of hard work.
