  1. linky Yet again the politics of change is revealed to be the politics of the past........ And why exactly would this be a "suprise"? I could see this happening for sure after what 8 years of Repugnican "leadership?" have done to US and to the rest of the world. Such a spectacular success in diplomacy and international relations. Id certainly rather Obama was in there to deal with it than another big spending cowboy repub who can only react as opposed to proact.
  2. yep, can't judge the rest of the country (specially the deep back water south) by any northern city standards. I could tell you some stories about hitch hiking through the south in the early '80s. Most people wouldn't believe that there were still "slave camps" then but yes, there were (1980s btw). If you ever run accross a book called "American Pictures" from that era have a look. Your jaw will drop. Katrena was just a glimpse of America's doormats.
  3. This just in, in yet another dramatic last ditch move McCain is gonna dump Palin and put the other "that one" on the ticket instead. The maverick strikes again!
  4. current electoral vote (estmt) Obama 364 - McCain - 171 Ties 3 source Obama 343.9 - McCain 194.1 source Obama 307 - McCain 218 source Obama 273 - McCain 163 - too close 102 source 'coarse, there's also Iowa and New Hampshire..polls are never wrong
  5. I also take a multi and extra B vites and vite D3 is now recomended at 1000 iu per day. A couple other things; the Arginine claims Ive read are mostly theoretical and inconclusive as for any true performance benefits - perhaps a study source? I might be wrong but don't you already get the needed extra amino acids from a good protein sup? Carnitine has had some positive hype but you should do your own research on it. My short list is Whey Protein Multi V Extra B Extra D Fish oil ocassional caffine ps- you should drink more water that usual if you sup with Creatine (and protien for that matter)
  6. billcoe, Obama has the natural skill, the intelligence, the open mindedness, and the innate ability to inspire that are the true requirements of the job - at this point in history whether that is enough remains to be seen, but what more could you realistically ask for to replace someone like George W Bush? Contrasted with "that one" guy McCain (who is entrenched in traditional right wing politics, prone to reactionary dramatic risk taking and bad decision making re "Palin") this is a no brainier. You think experience is the important requirement for the job? Or is it perhaps the smart decision making ability to surround yourself with experienced and intelligent advisers that supersedes the "experience" factor? The guy with the most "history and track record of actually doing that kind of work" at the moment is ironically George W Bush - albeit not to successfully. Now when the question of "experience" comes up it should become clear that experience might not count for much unless you believe that George W Bush (were he eligible) would be the best choice for the job - is that what you think? Arguably, Sarah Palin has more "experience" than Barack Obama does in executive positions - would you really choose Palin as president over Obama? Also, this whole "none of the above" thing is just plain nonsense. And a bit worse than saying "Im not going to watch the super bowl because my team isn't in it". These two candidates are who they are and they are the 2 we get to (realistically and meaningfully) vote on. The election process has been going on for almost 2 years now and these candidates are who is left. If you don't like the so called "2 party system" then work on behalf of a third party and build the grass roots support needed to be viable in the next election process. But wasting your vote (by abstaining) in a presidential election that WILL BE decided between just 2 viable candidates means only that you'll have no say in the outcome - good luck chasing windmills. Bill I think that you are over thinking this or looking for a justification (like many republicans btw) for not voting for Obama. Being that THIS election is NOT about what I think of as "my perfect candidate", what I want to see in the next president is clearly right there in Obama and NOT in McCain. Job Opening - President of the United States Must have the following skills: A superior and open minded intellect Sound decision making abilities Global respect or admiration An ability to lead and inspire others A tendency to be proactive in problem solving Fairness - largely non-ideological & unbeholden to special interstests Concern for the planet and well being of others An ability to adapt and overcome divisiveness An ability to communicate clearly most of the time So rather than crying about Obama not quite living up to the electorial process hyperbole (though he clearly has it over McCain in all the above categories) or believing the republican BS about Obama being "too risky for America" (as if he wernt even American) I think I'll choose to be part of the solution.
  7. FW, Spraying on teh intermet is one thing, but from what Ive seen of Obama rallies, he sure doesn't seem to bring out the rage or hate in his supporters - rather Id say something like hope the feeling that we finally have someone we can vote FOR (as opposed to the lesser of 2 ..) What McCain and Palin are doing on the other hand by not strongly denouncing this is not less than stoking the fires of violence. Can you imagine what is possible when hate like that is unleashed (not talking bad taste internet humor btw) and allowed to spread across the country at political rallies? I don't have to imagine. I remember the riots in the sixties, police murders, Kent State, political assassinations, dead kids in the south, etc.. In this present environment with an unpopular war with no end in sight, with an economy headed for an apparent depression, with NO leadership in the white house and a distrustful (at best) populace it would not take much to "inspire" someone to take things into their own hands. Geee, what could that mean I wonder? Lets ask Martin Luther King Jr or Bobby Kennedy or JFK if you can track down their ghosts. Like I said, spraying is one thing - THAT is not spraying. THAT is HATE. And the people in those videos are main stream McCain supporters, not a fringe. They may as well have come right out and just said it..you know the "N" word..ie NO * IS GONNA BE PRESIDENT IF I CAN HELP IT! But they can't even be that "honest". srry 'bt the repost
  8. watch out for grizz you guys you'll tell them by their turds
  9. maybe Im just old, but I thought you could still get a driving permit at 15?
  10. These are the people McCain and Palin are hanging with these days [video:youtube] [video:youtube] imagine now if you will, that in all likelihood McCain-Palin have some wealthy and powerful backers who are just as determined as the people in these videos to see that Barack Obama does not become president. Imagine what such people are capable of. Now you can see why NO lead in the polls is good enough no matter how big it is. Remember Dukakis vs Bush1? (1988) Dukakis had an 18 point lead in the polls at one point and still LOST! The campaign isn't only getting uglier, it's getting clearer. so VOTE!

    buy low, sell high

Im listening to Dave Ross this morning and you should here the fear in their (investors) voices a) these are just numbers and now is not the time to "realize" your losses b) now is not the time to be out of the game - when it turns around in like 2-3 days and gains much of the "loss" back c) now IS the time to get in and BUY! - within reason d) average your way in to the market as a whole - ie, put some in today, some more in next week etc.. e) question: did any of you actually pull all your money out of the markets in the last couple days?

    Undecided Voters

As of this moment, even if the "undecideds" give McCain Pennsylvania, Ohio, Florida and toss in Nevada, Obama still wins the electoral count and gets in! Tvash may turn out to be right - landslide! But McCain is impulsive and has many evil friends in high places so anything is still possible (being October and all..)

    The Debate

Not to be too pessimistic and this might be for another thread but..has anyone else considered.. ~ that the US is now "weakened" militarily being occupied by two wars ~ that the US is now weakened economically being in the midst of an apparent economic collapse (both goals of OBL btw) ~ that should another 911 type thing occur, we might very well start a world war in response while in a weakened condition and thus possibly "LOSE" such a war? Might it be that Bush in his ineptness will go down in history as the president who destroyed the United States? The consequences of putting an idiot in the white house perhaps?
