Giving due credit to the original Ptarmigans, however, it's important to note that they actually climbed 10 peaks on the original traverse. Not to take anything away from your speed record, but I think that's where the meat of the trip lies. Did you guys climb anything, or was this just a hike?

Let's not confuse the issues, Gary. Although I agree with your statement that you should only carry a gun in the woods if you are carrying the ten essentials as well. I'd take it a step further and say that you shouldn't be going in the woods without the ten essentials, regardless of whether or not you're carrying a gun.
I feel safer with a gun. It's great to be American.

Swimming pools are dangerous. Babies are dying every year by drowning in swimming pools. Never mind better parental supervision, we should just ban pools to make things safe.
Climbing is a dangerous sport. People are dying every year from falling. We should outlaw climbing to make the world a safer place.

Regardless of your interpretation of the Second Amendment... the fact remains that I carry a pistol every day, and I am allowed by law to do so. Not only that, I can and will use said pistol if I am in fear of imminent bodily harm. No amount of semantics can get around that.
