  1. this guy needs a guide...and some luck with the weather. the next thing he'll troll for...is a partner. wonder what others have planned for november climbing objectives. anyone want to offer some perspective?
  2. i've sworn off wearing faux furs...but this minxy is betta than the real thing. grrrrrrrr......
  3. faster than me? haha...i nawder first... quite tasty indeed.
  4. fenderfour thanks fer da warning, fender
  5. let's remember "the truth" of whatever one looks at, truly depends on the person presenting it. a good example are the Holocaust revisionists they go on and on, and think of a number of ways to explain "the truth" as the rest of us know it. left or right, it's a viewpoint that can be twisted when controlled by maligned people with hidden agendas. speaking of twisted truth....
  6. interesting suff, there bill. a mouthfull. once saw a cougar near packwood...man, they got long tails. 'bout ol'greg's comment... almost sounds like the stuff - used to say 'bout his dog. anyone got any photo of a lynx in the wild?
  7. do i geta use two er four feet?
  8. actually...now that i'm thinking 'bout it, the race goes from i think the bridge, until ya touch the haystack at the base.
  9. JGowens... nice work, dude. now...where the trail starts...could be where?? at the parking lot?? at the bridge??? just up from the bridge, where the trail splits off from the walking loop?? i've always started at the bridge, and timed all the way through the rocks, to the saddle, just before the trail turns to the left up to the gully...leading up the haystack. there's a new switchback there now...and a bench. there was a mt. si race in late june. anyone know the fastest time? missed it this year. think the record is held by uli...something around 40-44 or sumthun like that. think they time from the bridge to the rocks, like jgowens.
  10. f8...i'd have to agree with that. taking the idea to the limit...i guess that means if ya drive to the top of a peak, or fly up on a helo, you're also a peak bagger. is that right? at what point does the term "peak bagger" move away from a mountaineering context??
  11. is this a new definition of a peak bagger?? i thought a peak bagger was generally one who climbed a lot of mountains, mostly by easier routes. not sure if taking the lift makes one a peak bagger, in and of itself (??). this guy's cool in my book. he admits he's taken the lift, and who cares if it's halfway or whatever. he had a great time...and paid the salary of some lift operators. he could have lied, or left out the lift assist part...is that a better approach?? i say
  12. nice work there braumeister! congrats!! i remember reading someplace where ol’ dan - reported about his adams “speed record ascent,” that there were 60 degree (!) slopes on the mazama glacier. for as many years as i’ve climbed that route, i can never remember SIXTY DEGREE SLOPES. The only way to find those kinds of steep slopes on the mazama glacier, is to purposely search out those little rolls and 4-8 foot places to spice things up—on purporse. But…to say there was SIXTY DEGREE SLOPES as a part of the route is just pure fiddle faddle…evidence in his own words that he hasn’t even climbed that flipp’in route—no less in record time. anyone been able to find -’s mt adams trip report? i found it once…but like many of the articles and info that - posted…these things are mysteriously disappearing off the net. what’s he got to hide?? http://www.cascadeclimbers.com/threadz/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=rainierinvestigation&Number=160685&page=&view=&sb=5&o=&fpart=3&vc=1
  13. p SQUARED. a term of endearment, not a slam, pp.
  14. yup, yp believes ol’dwayner can do it. yes, the man petey & da’rest of ya call a dinosaur…soon to be “oil,” can surely climb da’5.phirteen. herr doctor professor dwayner is da’man who was wearing out eb’s well before most of ya were outa diapers and learning yer alphabet. onsighting routes with runouts that would make some of ya put them diapers back on…even now. my money’s on dwayner. course, he doesn’t “have to” prove nut’in to me. the fact that he’s able to duke it out with ya all here for pages and pages of posts and keep his argument on topic—and not get into “prove fest” of human feats is good nuf for me. da big question seems to be…are your actions out there consistent with your philosophy, or are ya just a lump of jello…just waiting to be pushed around by a growing tide of, “if it feels good to me…it must be OK” kind of grey water. +++ and i agree with dwayner ‘bout those CAPITAL LETTERS…irritating, and never get read…
  15. hans, thanks for adding some more details. i'm gonna revise my earlier statement, of: "chad kellog rocks," to... chad kellog f*ck'in rocks! i am now motivated to get off my ass. thanks chad, for giving me the motivation to get roll'in!
  16. Hans, i totally agree...we ought not to focus on other topics, such as -, when kellog is out there making real records. however, after much of the press got caught lauding dan -'s hoaxes... they'll be much less likely to cover those real mountaineers, such as kellog, when they really do achieve very notable and impressive records. while none of us wants to go po-leacing what others are doing... when there's an obvious hoaxter amongst us, it's up to the community to expose them for what they really are--so that guys and gals who make those rare real achievements, can continue to receive the press and notarity they deserve...if they want it. kellog's mt. mckinley denali speed ascent is truly worthy, from all angles. i once did a down and back, from 14k to 7k and back in 24 hours, and thought that was pretty cool. what kellog did was totally spectacular and i can't wait to hear all about his trip...and no doubt...how tough the effort was. chad kellog you rock! -------- what'da get when ya put 151Dru into a hans blixter... a youngprofessor.
  17. yup...that's the word we've heard...that dan-O - has dropped out of the khan tengri race in khaz. haven't had that confirmed yet by boukreev.org... they still list him as a recipiant of an award http://www.boukreev.org/bl2.htm perhaps of more interest...is that dan - made an attempt at a speed record last week on hood, and the event was was witnessed by J. Thomas, well-known Oregon guide book author. dan started in government camp, climbed to the true summit of mt. hood, and returned to timberline for a finish there. the fastest time to date for that route was made by dr. steve boyer in the '80's, at 3:13. dan's time was 4:58 THIS YEAR, which was an HOUR AND 3/4 SLOWER than boyer's previous record. seems dan isn't performing well when timed by people who are interested in objectively recording such events. to date, dan - has not defended any of his records, and instead slanders those people who challenge them. he calls people names, slanders and attacks them in the press, and goes to great lengths to DEFLECT the topic away from him PROVING his records. i imagine we'll see more slandering by dan - soon... aimed at those people who've challenged his records. instead of taking this slippery slope, MR. DAN -, why don't you take chad kellog's challenge for a face to face speed climb on mt. rainier... and prove things once and for all? if you beat chad... it won't necessarily support your last year's claim, but it would go a long ways in getting folks to support any of your claims. looooose the race... and you'll really need to take the opportunity and GO AWAY. chad... job well done. i'm jelous and proud of your supreme and awesome effort. well done, mate.
  18. fence sitter. you're right.
  19. yes, those sherps are tough guys. great achievements! kudos to those climbers. check out the bashing - is doing on the sherpas at http://www.mounteverest.net/boards/babble/forum.shtml the guy even feels he's gotta put down the sherps. he's signing under a number of different names...and the tone is all the same. you'll recognize it immediately. anyone see - in the mountains these days??
  20. skyclimb, you're lying about that bergshrund, and i advise that you quit tyring to minimize the hazzard presented by such a problem. i was up there today on a training run, and the bergschrund was definately a problem for any climber. the wind wasn't as strong as you say, either, so quit trying to boost up your ego by lying again. Dan === Sorry...skyclimb. i tired to do this, but even though i posted it...i just couldn't keep the post up without this edit. guess it's just not me to call someone i don't know, a lyer (without rock solid evidence, that is). good job on your climb. at least you were out doing sumthun, while i was frigg'ing slacking here in front of my puter. congrats, and way to fight through that front coming that was headed your way! wish i had been there with ya. nuf said. yp
  21. jg, jennifer garner, or dan -, or whomever you are… you’re testing the waters here, i suppose with your post… in someplace safe…ahh, your post is so sweet and thoughtful, a nice little recipe…and quite nicely done. you imply by posting here, and with your language…that you’ve climbed denali. and that’s pretty sweet too. you’re to be commended on your achievement. you also posted some replies on this cc.com website about -’s speed record, and seemed to have intimate details about his claimed rainier records. in one of those posts you claim to have climbed rainier with dan back in your “college days.” congrats to you both on your fine ascent. several people have asked the question…are jg/sea and dan the same person?? it’s a good question too, since dan and you somehow seem to blur together in the minds of us less gifted people. AND AS FAR AS I’M CONCERNED, AND OTHERS TOO, YOU ARE THE SAME PERSON, UNLESS YOU POST YOUR RAINIER SUMMIT PHOTO OF YOU AND DAN ON RAINIER’S SUMMIT ON THIS THREAD. you know the climb, the one you so proudly announced. how about a couple of photos around the crater rim too, or something like that. if you don’t post that particular set of photos for WHATEVER silly reason, i’m gonna call your bluff, and we’ll assume that you and dan ARE the same people. all your BS spray and rhetoric was intended…as build up to support “dan’s great rainier hoax.” i’ve read and reread that rainier thread about dan’s claim, and for your part in the thread, well, it all just seems strange—at best. actually, your friendship appears incredibly strong, since you’re willing to go to bat and shore up a buddy whenever needed. i commend you for being there when a friend is needed. but then you were there from the beginning--when it wasn't really needed...and that’s the strange part. wonder why dan wasn’t there to speak for himself??? he hasn’t even stepped up to the plate after his climb…with all of the challenges to his records. many of us have wondered why he wouldn’t, but you did, his friend. again, how sweet. go ahead and prove me wrong—post the photos, and I’ll eat my words, and as others have offered, i WILL buy you a beer—in fact I’ll send you some $$ so you can buy dan some brew with it too. the rainier photos of your college climb would be great to see, along with some of your denali photos. all of this effort with the photos would add some credibility to you, and your posts. you see, too many people have asked the question—are you jg and dan the same person?? otherwise—if you don’t post the photos, you and dan will continue to be known as true POSEURS, and dan’s record will continue to flounder in a sea of doubt—and some will say it was simply a hoax. your posting of the photos won’t clear dan or prove his claim, but it would clarify some questions many people have asked about you and dan. certainly by posting the photos and supporting dan with this effort, in a sense, it will at least give dan some glimmer of hope to reclaim his record. of course, you really have nothing to do with dan's record. however, if you and dan are the same person...well, that's another thing entirely. don’t cry about my demands jg, especially with your nauseating posts—or use some stupid reason why the photos were burned up in a make-believe house fire. just post the photos, and then we can all start taking your posts, and your comments…slightly more serious. if you call my demand ridiculous and refuse to post, well then, you’re not such a staunch dan supporter, are you. now is the time to buck up for your friend, if that’s what he really is. if you shrug off the photo demand…and shift focus to me, we’ll all know you’re avoiding the issue. i guess l’m like the others who’ve written in dan’s rainier thread, when they asked for the summit photos from the dan’s summit timers. in this case, it also seems like the same applies to you: “if you don’t have the photos of you and dan on rainier’s summit, too bad for you.” and in this case, more bad for dan. i’m sure many many people would appreciate the photos, and dan too, certainly needs the support. don’t dally too long, jg, it’s time to help your friend--just like before. might be easier in the long run, than dabbling with those recipes. don’t get tangled up in all the words or the semantics of things. post the dang photos jg, that’s all we’re asking for. ++++ moderators… thank you kindly for moving this to a separate thread. the denali thread had some truly meaninful info, and when jg made his post...my stomach turned and i just couldn't take it.
  22. Ahhhh....the feeling of release. Now go out and climb sumthun....Roskelly is.
