  1. The Everett Mountaineers will be out running classes this weekend at the roadside crags - Barney's Rubble, Bruces Boulder, Rotowall, Lower Clamshell and Alphebet Rock. If there's an open route you'd like to climb, just ask and we can pull the top rope if there's one dangling.
  2. Just a courtesy heads up, the Everett Mountaineers will run their Basic Rock 2 field trip in Icicle Canyon this weekend, April 14-15. We have about 30 students and will be running exercises at the following crags, Alphabet Rock, Roto Wall, Barney's Rubble, Bruce's Boulder, Lower Clamshell Cave. If we are there and there is an unoccupied rope on a route you'd like to climb, feel free to ask for the station leader. We can pull the rope, and you can climb.
  3. Just a heads up, the Everett Mountaineers will run their annual Basic Rock 2 field trip Saturday and Sunday 4/16 - 4/17 in Icicle Canyon. They will be at the following roadside crags. Alphabet Rock Roto Wall Barney's Rubble Bruces Boulder Lower Clamshell If you want to climb a route not being used, ask the station leader and they will pull the rope.
  4. Stefan, Each of the Mountaineers branches coordinates class field trips with one another earlier in the year. The link you've posted is to the Mountaineers climbs schedule (i.e. it's for climbs, silly.) The notice I provide on cc.com is just that, a heads up to non-mountie climbers. I'm not official, not sanctioned, and gone (poof) in a whisp of smoke
  5. The Everett Branch Mountaineers Intermediate Climbing Class will be at Royal Columns this weekend (04/24-4/25.)
  6. Just a heads up, the Everett Mountaineers will be running their Rock 2 field trip in Icicle Creek this weekend. We run this field trip once a year. We'll have top rope anchors set up at Barney's Rubble, Bruce's Boulder, Roto Wall, Lower Clamshell and Alphabet Rock. We don't claim ownership over the routes, and we'll try to be accomodating. If you spy a route that's unoccupied, ask the station leader. Chances are we'll pull one of our ropes.
  7. There's no fitness requirement, and it's not a test. This is just a wake up call for new climbing students. They'll hike up a steep trail with a heavy pack and figure out it sucks to overheat. Most haven't had to do this before.
  8. Just a heads up, the Everett Mountaineers will hold their conditioning field trip on Mt. Si this Saturday. Tiger and Mailbox might be a couple alternatives to avoid the crowds.
  9. In an effort to minimize our impact on the climbing community we are posting this announcement. The Everett Mountaineers will be conducting their Basic Rock 2 Field trip this weekend in Icicle Canyon. This is run once per year. This year, there will be a total of about 50 of us. We plan to be at Alphabet Rock, Barney's Rubble, Bruces Boulder, Lower Clamshell, and Rotowall. We claim no ownership on these routes. If you spy a route that's not being used, ask the station leader if they will pull the rope. They should yield.
  10. So fair warning, The Everett Mountaineers will run their Rock 2 field trip the weekend of April 26 and 27. We do understand the impact we have and are doing what we can to minimize it. Advanced warning is part of that plan, and I'll provide a reminder via a separate thread a few days prior with the specific climbing areas we plan to be at. Some of our more overzealous station leaders are being "talked to" If you want an adjacent route or one that we are not using, we will yield.
  11. For newbies planning to slog glaciers this season in plastics, a practice hike up Si in them is a pretty good idea. Hey, don't laugh. This happens
  12. Catbird has it right. It's a wakeup call for students in the Basic climbing course. They won't go on any real climbs till June, but things like Shuksan and the local volcanos would be typical as well as one day, summer alpine stuff like SEWS, Kangaroo Temple, da Toof, Ingalls...
  13. Just a heads up, the Everett Mountaineers will have a swarm of students all over Mount Si Saturday Morning. Good alternates are Mailbox Peak, Lake Annette, Rattlesnake Ridge. Sorry for the inconvenience. I'll try to provide a similar warning for future field trips
