  1. How bout this Kev, just so we get this settled. You and i meet somewhere, we toe off. Gloves if you want but i prefer bare fists. If i don't get up, then i'll leave it alone and you can spray all you want. If you don't get up you stay off this site forever. Sounds like a joke but those who know me here know i'm serious. Just you and me. save me from your bullshit, it's a yes or no question. JL
  2. Who's offering the course? Is this through 3SBCA? JL
  3. Ditto on snopark pass requirements. For BT just park at Dutchman Sno Park and follow the snowmo trail to the easily identified wilderness Boundary adjacent to Ball Butte. There's a few different ways to get back there, but it's easy to figure it out. From there access is pretty good to anything on BT except the West Face. No need to deal with F.S. roads, just go to the boundary. You should be able to look at a map at the snowpark. For S. Sister just rally up the road towards Elk Lake and park your sled at Devil's Lake or the Moraine Lk Trailheads. One thing to point out is that snowpark will be full by 8:30 am everyday that weekend. It's a fucking madhouse in there so get there early. JL
  4. Climb something other than Birdland if you want to get the feel for RR. Personally i think Birdland was ok, but a poor representation of what RR climbing is all about. I thought the 1st pitch had ok protection, but everything else was pretty bomber. give it another chance yo. JL
  5. Damn nice vid, I'm impressed. Trevor looks on point. It was that ice crust that threw me down on the last turn, pretty funny eh? Good times without ideal conditions. Kwohlifiers, that shit's funny man. JL
  6. Letsroll is getting cocky. I can take care of that. JL
  7. I checked out the site and still can't figure out if this pack has an external shovel pocket/sleeve. Does anyone know? Makes all the difference if i want this pack or not. JL
  8. Mike PM me, i can pass on a name of famous climber who i work with. And he's a writer. JL
  9. check out the yurts at Tumalo State Park, pretty sweet set-up and only 15 minutes from the park. not sure how much they are, i do know they sleep like 6-8 people and are heated. JL
  10. Holy shit, the legend himself speaks.
  11. We were on Backbone right next to ya. I heard the rockfall but never saw it. We were wondering if you were gonna get off that thing by dark. NICE JOB!!! JL
  12. damn he's good. It's Chris not Gabe though. That pitch kicks ass, i'll never puss out on leading it again. JL
  13. Pretty sure i talked to you guys at the Rack n Roll place after you got down? i asked what you guys we're going up, and you said you just got down from Jefferson. New Mexico plates? JL

    Huge fall at Smith

Check out the response to his same "HUGE FALL" thread on Smithrock.com. Now that's a huge fall. Shown up in the first response. Ruining a thread? Looking who's calling the kettle black. A ten foot fall is a big fall? That's 5 ft above a bolt/gear, grow some balls. JL
  19. I'm suprised you didn't get it off the post you just replied to from Billy. WHat do you want to know? You can reach the TH with any vehicle. Maybe a 3 minute walk before you can skin. Boot/skin track going in a few different directions. Be careful taking the one the goes high above the normal creek crossing with bridge. It's a down track from a group last week, it takes you to the N. side of the SE arm on North Sister. Tons of snow, all the killer lines are in. IceHose(NE slot on Middle) IS IN!!!! I've never seen it in this late in the season. E face of Middle, Thayer, all great snow coverage. JL
  20. Thanks Billy, i was wondering about Whitewater TH. Are the the big trees on bare road? I'll go in and cut them, just curious as if they're laying in snow. Pole Creek is good all the way to the TH. Some spots of snow but tracks lead the way, you don't even need clearance. JL
  21. Don't climb with Frank, he's a real jerk. just kidding, the guy fucking cranks. I'm down for afternoon sessions midweek at Smith, just let me know when your around. JL
  22. you fucker, that's where i shoulda went. I ended up going in later Sunday, passed numerous vehicles coming out all soggy. Never really got rained on, but hung out with overnight gear at the base of North Sister for A LONG time waiting to see if it was gonna clear. Snow was absolute mank, needed clearing to set it up. Never could see the summits so i bailed and went and saw Modest Mouse, great show. JL
  23. I wouldn't worry that much about it sliding, not really a terrain trap or anything. It could sluff if it's loaded, but rarely does it load up high. But that's why it's such a sought after CORN run, which i don't think it will be. Most likely warmed up mushy powder with all this precip. I may wait until Sunday to go check it out.
  24. Last weekend's warm spell did us justice. i just went up there this morning. A low clearance non 4x4 can get within 1+ mile of the TH. I punched through with a Suburban no problem all the way to the TH. It's not consistent snow, just deeper patches with deep tracks. With some momentum it shouldn't be a problem. Really shitty out there right now, been raining since 4 am, snow is absolute mush down low. Calling for 3-5 inches above 5500 feet. I bet more than that above 7K, it's been pouring in Bend all day. At the TH it was that shitty Hyperthermic mixed rain and snow. JL
