  1. I like reading the TRs. Even the most mundane climb and be an interesting TR with some pictures and something to say. It gets boring on this site sometimes when it is all BS/Spray and nobody actually talking about getting out and doing something. So take some pictures and post some TRs, i'll read them. If you don't like it read something else.
  2. Trip: Kendall - Date: 12/6/2009 Trip Report: Jeff H and i went up to snoqualmie with an idea of skiing Lundin but without much expectation of great conditions. We were surprised to find it snowing hard and a lot of new snow, as much as a foot up high. It was still icy in the trees and not much new snow in there so we opted for Kendall. Good turns were had, an interesting mix of powder on carvable crust. The trees coming down where decent in the open parts, smooth crust with powder, and terrible in the tighter trees, icy and pockmarked with little new snow. Overall a fun ski and unexpectedly good. Gear Notes: No camera, no pics Approach Notes: Still early season conditions with much funkiness and creeks.
  3. There is a hostel at the base of the ski area name The Hostel http://www.thehostel.us/index.html although there is more food and bars in town.
  4. I almost forgot to post my sick video! [video:youtube] Next time i'll take some video of the steeper skiing so you guys look more hardcore.
  5. BD Kilowatts is what i have for backcountry only. they are lightweight and ski great. I have heard the verdicts are a little beefier version
  6. You might want to try this site out http://www.canyoneeringnorthwest.com/ I think you should go for snoqualmie falls
  7. From what i have heard the road to mt garfield is washed out and closed at some point. according to this http://www.wfl.fhwa.dot.gov/projects/mfsnoqualmie/ completed repairs up to Milepost 8.0. I think that puts you about 5 miles short of your destination.
  8. Thanks for the list Fender. Keep them coming. I was up at the K Cliff today, which was pretty clean. We also climbed Al's Armed Response, which was filthy but a fun climb. I was wishing i had brought some brushes so i could clean up these ones. It seems like there are tons of forgotten routes that are fun climbs and could be brought back to life with some cleaning and some climber traffic.
  9. Great TR, i love the blow by blow drama.
  10. Did you go up the road towards the ingalls trailhead? i was wondering how close you can get to it right now.
  11. If you go down there on a nice weekend you'll see tons of people skiing. In bad weather it can be tough skiing and easy to get lost. Just go when the weather is nice and you should not have too much trouble.
  12. Good times and some excellent ski conditions were had by all. Here are a few shots from sunday on the skin up to kangaroo ridge and the ski down into willow creek. On the way up. David going for next year's poster shot David again. Wayne - also in the running Powder at the top on the way down into Willow Creek Jimbo - Silver Star in the background It was nice to meet everyone and the cabin is a great place to camp out.
  13. nice pictures. I was flying back from red rocks on 4/20 and got a great look at crater lake out the airplane window. I was thinking the mountains looked pretty cool and i was wondering about the skiing potential. looks like a fun trip.
  14. Micah, I wouldn't beat yourself up too much, i am sure plenty of people on this site, myself included, have gotten some booty at some point in their climbing, pro, draws, biners, whatever. I know i justified it by calling it "booty" just drop them off at VW seattle and bret will be happy
  15. nice pics. we skied Arrowhead yesterday, no photos as i forgot the camera. it was a beautiful sunny day and the conditions were actually pretty decent. there was a firm crust up high that we mostly stayed on top of. down lower the crust was firmer and the snow was more corn like. All in all a good day, i am ready for some spring too.
  16. Trip: Mt Snoqualmie - Phantom Slide Date: 3/10/2009 Trip Report: Powder and sunshine, doesn't get much better. Kurt, Pablo and i skied the Phantom. conditions were pretty great top to bottom, deep pow up top.
  17. Nice job! That is quite a collection of impressive routes.
  18. That is great!! Looks my subscription will be getting filled after all. They should do some reprints of the old issues, maybe a 1-25 box set for the holidays next year.
  19. the weather was pretty crazy. Here are a few more pics from Red Feck gettin' some it was nice where the snow was smooth crazy inversion, down in the fog it was cold

    Good News Teachers

there are many reasons not to be a teach, finally some encouraging perks. Appellate court rules teachers can have sex with 18-year-old students http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2008622974_webstudentsex13m.html
  21. the easier of those routes was my first and only dws. it was easy, 5.6 until the last move. the other route looked fairly hard, going across the underside of the road deck. i never got up the nerve to give that one a try, too afraid of taking a backsplat from 30ft. next time just make all the holds grey and mabye they will stay up a little longer.
  22. i have had a couple softshell jackets. I love the how breathable they are, but they don't hold the heat too well. i just layer based on the activity level and temps, and bring some kind of puffy for taking breaks. when i am backcountry skiing i usually have to take the softshell off on the uphills because it is way to hot.
