i am going skiing this weekend. hopefully it will be better than oct 2. was out yesterday scoping climbing routes for this winter. snow is flying up top, can't wait for it to make it down to sea level.

yes i should have defined this better. there were not many gyms around when i started climbing so i didn't really take that into consideration. i think a better judge would be outdoor leading ability. now you do. edited to add: that i would be lucky to send a 5.10 trad route these days

looking through the how to climb 5.12 post, i was wondering what level people came into this sport. so how many people came in as 5.6 climbers and have worked their way up to 5.12 or something through dedication.

went to the new tgr film friday...bad idea. we need more snow now! the board is tuned, the tele stix are tuned, the skate skis are tuned...and the ice axes are restless. bring it on.

i lost so much weight in china that i now have to eat a candybar just to walk across the street! ifin yer wantin to go light and fast i highly reccommend a headlamp...if it gets dark where you are. no reason to stop for a bivy in terrain suitable for night travel. and a 20' whipper is really exciting at night, both for the climber and the belayer watcher a light coming quickly towards him. also it's really great in a dimented/spooky kind of way when the headlamp falls off and drops for a few hundred meters. that's when the fun bivy begins!

from time to time get on some hard 12s and a 13 or two. get beat down by these routes, but learn from them. they will help you envision what can actually be held on to. and make the holds on say a 12a seem a bit more friendly.
