It's not really the traverse if you didn't repeat the original route. In that case it would make it basically a variation or something partial. Just like a climbing route on a mountain. Call it staunch if you want. What do you then call someone that claims to climb a technical mountain route but didnt? Well in this case maybe not a fibber but I would choose to enlighten that person. To claim you hiked the trail along the route that those dudes bagged the peaks back in the 30's and call it the Ptarmigan Traverse is only humoring yourself.

Moonstone usually has nice gear for a low cost. It's rarely top of the line but will work just fine. They picked the perfect spot to sell off their trash to yuppie scum on the weekends.

That doesn't really sound like the entire traverse to me. I'm not discrediting anyone and their accomplishments except when they might claim to do something they did not. Maybe what you really meant to say is something like "my friends completed a variation or version of the Ptarmigan Traverse in 2 days. This was completed from a to b with this many summits." ??

The "entire traverse" entails what? Did they climb *all* the summits or just walk across the mountains tagging the ones they saw fit. That's some spray if I ever heard it.

It's all calculated to skill and balls just like anything else. Well if you're a lady then not balls but guts Skiing and biking can both be dangerous. It's the participater in each event that will determine which is more. Except for Eivel Knievel

I'm with Juanita here. Just because some skier rides a chopper does not imply any type of skill or lack of skills. The generalization comments are just opinions until someone justifies otherwise with some hard facts from a well respected and unbiased source. The next time I see some mountaineer students out rock climbing I got a plan. I'll go and climb around them waiting for rockfall and falling equipment to hit me. Then I'll sue the organization for negligence. I bet they have a lot of money to pay up since they publish all dem books.

You'll likely not get most places to accept a return under those circumstances. Everyone knows that and I immediately would have chosen the gift certificate instead. The staff over there has had attitudes for years. It's a nationally known reputation that they have "I love myself syndrome". It's humorous when my friend from Tennessee knows about their attitudes all the way down there Maybe they need a wake up call
