  1. Just wanted to wish everyone a happy holiday.
  2. Plane tickets have been bought, reservations have been made for the Riverside Inn, and reservations have been made for 5 clinics! Anyone else planning on going this year?
  3. Hey Rob, The training is going pretty good. Ran my first 5K this past weekend and have another 5K, as well as a 5 miler, set up for next month. Tried to get one more rock climb in this past weekend before the ice gets in, but it was too wet. I'm planning on doing Mera and Island Peaks while in Nepal, but I'm sure I'll get more excited about actually "seeing" Everest!!! And I just know that once I lay eyes on Everest, I'll want to climb it!! I just found out over the weekend that the New England High School Wrestling Tournament is the weekend of March 7-8th. So, unless he boy gets knocked out early, I my not be able to climb Mt Washington until Sunday the 9th if you're still be in the area. Talk to you lata, Mike
  4. Hey Rob, The Lions Head Trail is condidered the least dangerous route in winter, and is the most frequently used winter route. Of course there are some nice ice climbing routes in the gullies also!! I should have some pics of Washington from my previous traverse of which I'll post if I can find them, (and if I can figure out how to post on this forum!). If I can't find them, I'll be sure to take more on the next traverse this February, seeing as I bought me a new toy, a nice digital camera!! Rob, I, like you, am getting fired up for the coming season!!! Talk to you lata. Mike
  5. Nice pics Russki! It's nice to see some eastcoasters on the board!! Can't wait to get up that mountain again!!
  6. Hey Rob, Thanks for the web sites. I'm sure they will be helpful. As far as recording what we do and eat, I do the same thing, but it seems I always forget to record the junk food I eat, so I guess it's useless info!! LOL!!
  7. "'novice training schedules' on the web"? Rob if you don't mind post or email me the addresses. I'd love to look at them! As far as being afraid of hieghts, so am I!! That's why I use protection! Matt, Yes the weather did suck this past weekend that's for sure. I definitely plan on getting there, but probably wont be until next year some time. Maybe we can hook up then if you're planning a return trip.
  8. Alex, Nice pics!! The rock looks dry to me. A higher state of civilization?! I hate Ruben Sandwhiches!! For a cheeseburger today, I'd gladly pay you back Tuesday!
  9. Am I new to this marathon thing?!! Hell yes!! I'm not trying to qualify for Boston, I'm just using this as a training incentive for my climbing trip to Nepal, and from the way I ran this past weekend I think a half marathon may be biting off more than I can chew!!! I'm attempting another Presi Traverse in February, but I'll keep the March 8-9 weekend open. I'm always willing to climb that hill!!
  10. Wow!!! I guess I was way off base on both counts!!! Thanks for clearifying that for me!!! LOL!!
  11. Hi Dave, Thanks for the web site!! It will certainly come in handy. I'm replying here in the forum because for some reason I it wouldn't let me email you. If you can, email me with the info on how I can get in touch with your friend. Thanks again, Mike
  12. Paco, I've never been to Holderness School Corner. Where about is it? I'd love to check it out someday. Yes, the Whitney-Gilman Ridge on Cannon cliffs is my goal for next season. One of New Englands classic climbs! I didn't realize that it was bolted? And by all means, if you're ever in the area let me know!
  13. Hey Rob, 42 is too old to start Ice climbing? Damn I've just started and I'm 49!!! I'm running a half marathon in March. I'll check the date. I don't believe it's the 8th-9th so if you want some company walking up Washington another winter ascent sounds good to me! Seeing as how the half marathon goes I'll decide weather or not to try the Boston Marathon in April! It may be I'm biting off too much to chew?!!
  14. Mattp, Thanks for the invite, but unfortunately I can't make the Gunks this weekend, and as far as your description of the Whites 30 years ago? It's still the same these days as well!!!!! Leejams, let me know when you're back in the area. I went to Rumney for the first time last month and would love to go back. Seems like every route had some kind of overhang which gave me all kinds of problems so I'm looking forward to going back and work on this!!! [ 10-11-2002, 10:46 AM: Message edited by: Mike McNeill ]
  15. Thanks Caveman, I certainly understand. Rob, I attempted a Presidential Traverse in Feb of 2001 as training for Denali but got blown of by high winds. I'm planning another attempt this winter as more training for Mera and Island peaks in Nepal. Let me know which weekend you're planning on climbing and if it's not the weekend of my 1/2 marathon I'd be more than happy to walk up that hill with you, or if you prefer we can ice climb up Pinnacle Gully!! (Well look at that, I found a climbing partner in a Cascade's forum!! What will they think of next? LOL!!)
