Yes, I would say talk to CAST. They do exactly that for alpine ski boots.

In part due to this and in part due to the manufacturer's name (Ruth Lee), our Rescue dummy is called David Lee Ruth.

What happened to that Minx character?
No kidding!

Big fan of Locus maps here. Lots of available maps out there. Sometimes you have to do a bit of conversion work. You can d/l all sorts of online stuff (GE etc) for use later. Make sure you run the Locus maps tweak app to get access to extra sources.
Only thing that really bothers me is that it is a multi stage process to mark a waypoint.

According to a couple sources I just checked via a quick Google, Americans actual own ~3 times more guns per capita than Canadians. 31/100 vs 89/100. Switzerland is ~25-46/100 - military rifles kept at home included. Not sure why the range in that figure.
In my mind it would be interesting to know the numbers when you start counting handguns. I suspect the difference would be much more dramatic.
In Switzerland the guns are kept at home, but only 2000 specialist militia members are allowed to keep military issued ammunition at home. The rest have to go get their bullets from an armoury when the time comes... I don't know what Switzerland's ammo control laws are.

Details below - please visit the Events Forum Ski-In Thread
for updates and discussion!
Planning for the 2014 Ski In is underway. Ski In is a fun annual event for both skiers and climbers.A free camping east of Mazama is reserved. Setting a date for the event is the only thing holding us back. Like others we're watch for WSDOT HWY-20 Updates. As of today they are past Liberty Bell 2 slide path on the east side and past Easy Pass on the west.

The campsite is down by the river with an excellent cooler available

The campsite has a fire pit and an outhouse is nearby. If we can figure out how to turn the water heater on you can even take a shower.
Unfortunately a super spiffy kitchen is not available

The campsite provides easy access to rock climbing near Mazama, and skiing at the pass is 10-miles away.

We'll announce a date soon. Based on WSDOT comments Mid-May is the expected time for the highway to open.

The little torx that comes with AVID disc brakes fits the dynafit bindings. Bug your local bike shop.

The Canadian Avalanche Centre also recommends against single antenna beacons.

All versions, recalled, looks like they will upgrade you to their top model.

It's not as big a deal as people make it out to be, unless you are a lycra suited rando racer worried about a few seconds at each transition - and then you're probably not wearing Dukes anyways.

They [plates] also have the added advantage of allowing you to use your favorite fat sticks in the resort with your alpine bindings and in the BC with your tech bindings.
That's not an added advantage of plates, since that's exactly what I do with my BF inserts.

Any chance you were shooting photos before you got to the Bugaboos? There is an area on the West side of Duncan Lake that I am very interested in, and it looks on the line map like you passed right over it on the way from Kelowna.
I am specifically looking for sinkholes and karst features in the limestone of the Badshot Range. See anything?

I've decided to drop this from the stickys. Hope that's not too controversial! There is another version of this thread over at TGR.

I was alerted to this as possible spam by a user. I will leave it as is, since it seems a good resource, and I see no ads or anything, so I think it's non-commercial, but I will ask you to refrain from bumping the post.

You wont regeret your purchase of the apex.
Until it breaks in your pack. Like mine did... twice.
The battery chargers all require you charge 4 batteries at once and the batteries all have to be down on charge when you charge them so if you have a 3 cell lamp you have to somehow draw down the one battery you don't use. A real pita.In addition rechargeables are so much weaker than one-use batteries you need 4 of them to equal a 3 cell setup using one-use batteries.
Buckaroo - you might want to read up on modern rechargeables. ie - low self discharge NiMH like the Eneloops mentioned above. Good chargers are capable of charging 1-4 cells at a time no problem. The modern LED headlamps draw high currents that alkaline (one -use) cells can't provide for very long. Overall, high end lights generally depend on rechargeable cells for maximum performance.
