I guarantee you it's climbable. Depends on what you want, whether it's worth doing right now. Here's a link from when Crazy_Jeff and I did it in late August '03: North Ridge of Baker

Good to see you're after adventure, Jeff.

I JUST HAD SUCH A GREAT SATURDAY ON THE CHIEF! SQUAMISH IS SO FABULOUS! NOW I TAKE SHOWER AND DRINK ALCOHOL AND EAT TASTY HANDMADE NOODLES!!! If anyone wants to climb on Monday, please see my post in the PARTNERS WANTED FORUM.
-
Just climbed the Chief again today but have to work tomorrow but want to KEEP THE STOKE ALIVE. Thank you for climb with dirtbag carless scientist.

Anybody want to climb something from Vancouver on Monday? I have to work tomorrow. I have no car, but I could rent one for the right objective, or I'd be stoked to contribute plenty of gas ca$h if you'll drive. I'd be stoked to climb at Squamish or some alpine in SWBC or NW WA. Please to post in this thread or send email to skykilo - 4t - gmail - d0t - c0m. If you can't parse that into an email address, I probably don't want to climb with you. Sky

[TR] Mt. Baker - Park Headwall +... 7/16/2009

Thanks for doing the legwork, Dan. I can put the CHW pipe dream to rest for the season. -
[TR] Mt, Rainier - Edmunds Headwall 7/3/2009
skykilo replied to danhelmstadter's topic in Mount Rainier NP
That photo of Ryan is mine, buster. Nice TR, Dan. I like the helmet cam perspective much more in all the parts where you can see another skier making turns ahead of you. You do the hokey pokey and you turn yourself around.... -
I'm feeling jilted here, where's my fawking shout-out? Amar and I did it from Hidden Valley to get a bonus 3k late in the day. That's a really sweet spot on the rim of Shastina; it almost feels alpine when you can look in mutiple directions at summits of choss and ice.

[TR] Hozomeen Mountain north peak - northeast face ski descent 5/17/2009
skykilo replied to dmTabke's topic in North Cascades
Nice photos and accurate account, dmT. Post-control work shows Hozone pollution. Andy enjoys the best turns of the day while finishing the approach on the ridge. Alternate view of the crux DmT skis quickly through the supreme slurpy-death zone, or as Andy might have said, "Holy fuck! Get me the fuck out of here." -
first ascent [TR] Greybeard Peak - East Face 5/16/2009

Where the fawk was CaseY? Eric: you're a worthless-old-man cross-posting attention whore. -
The Wilson Headwall could be worth climbing. In the area, I'd recommend the Kautz Headwall for a similar rockband-laced steep snow climb with more climbing and less objective hazard. I know of at least five different people who've skied the Wilson Headwall, not that it matters.

skykilo replied to ryanl's topic in British Columbia/Canada
It's all good. I haven't looked at bivouac.com yet myself. But if you guys have it on good authority that this character's a douchebag, I'll take your word for it. I know about douchebags; I'm a douchebag myself. Can we call it Sodomy Spire? <> -

Perhaps you and Drew have lost sight of something: we climbed and skied a peak on the north side of the ManClam IceClap. I could really give a shit what you call it. The mountain was real and we had a great time. It was the highest peak in the vicinity, so if you have an official name that you'd like to share, I'm all ears. -

labelled on this map http://www.clarkgeomatics.ca/products.html it's the peak at the head of the cirque on the east side of spire peaks; the peak is kind of on the northwest side of the manclam icefield. -

Very nice prose, Ryan. Now don't further emulate Phelps with a DUI or we won't be able to kick it in BC. 'K buddy? -
2/10: Dr. Andy Luks - Safe Travel at High Altitude
skykilo replied to MountaineersClub's topic in Events Forum
Nobody else in Vancouver wants to go to this show? What if he does a show here? Anyone in BC interested in this presentation if we can get Dr. Luks to do one in Vancouver? -
Thanks for reminding me that I need to renew my license.

Given how close it is to Vancouver, I'm getting interested in skiing some lines from Lions Bay, just because it would be so easy to make day trips and it looks like the potential for adventure is there. I'm thinking of "lines" on the Lions, Unnecessary, Harvey, Brunswick... I'm relatively ignorant at this point so feel free to ridicule me. But if anyone else is in Vancouver (or elsewhere, I guess) is interested in skiing adventures in this area, drop me a line. Sky
