  1. Yeah and there is flocks of tropical parrots in my yard squacking all night, worse than crows. I may have also seen an elephant in the cascades once, it could have been a deer but they all moved to what used to be the arctic.
  2. OOPS! I was meaning to go, but now it's the 8th! How was it? What was the premise?
  3. Bellingham is good, i can't think of many drawbacks to living here-except everyone from the county areas say THE in front of road names ie: THE Smith Road, THE Hemmi Road. Man it's annoying. There really is not that many hippies either. GP stinks a little, but I can't smell it anymore. One thing that I like is that there are alot of good hikes close to town that are good for excercise. Oyster Dome is my favorite 3.5 miles, 1900ft gain, and great views of the San Juans. Larrabee isn't a great climbing spot, but it does the trick after work sometimes-nice swimming holes too! Beware of Teddy Bear Cove lots of disgusting naked hairy dudes frolicking in the water there. I didn't grow up here but moved here 6 years ago when I was 18 and I hope I can stay here permanently. Go for it!
  4. That peak across the valley and North of Whitehorse has that look to it also, sort of a tilted layer cake. Whats the deal? Haggen?
  5. Advertising icon? I like Mt. R. I don't care who climbs it either, and I understand wanting to climb it. If I had not grown up looking at the Brothers I probably would have climbed Rainier first. Some people don't care about how they are viewed upon from snob climbers-they just want the individual goal!
  6. I was tooling around up there this weekend (Baker Lake). I didn't go up the particular road in question, but I would estimate that I drove to at least about 2000' on roads nearby.
  7. If you want to save some cash, order from B&H photo in New York. Most if the online camera dealers will screw you, but B&H is the the absolute best. I think it is HERE!. They have alot of stuff too!
  8. Nothing wrong woth someone pulling on a lungdart and enjoying the view at the Cascade pass lot.
  9. Yes, and the best way to help get people into protecting these environments is through exposure. No not everyone is able-or willing to hump in 5 miles to see and appreciate these areas. We have it pretty good here, in my opinion, what we do have as easy access is limited, but just enough for others to enjoy.
  10. Not many dude bros either. Bunch of kind fellow dorkuses though.
  11. Vancouver=blaaaah Seattle=cool Bellingham=perfect There are jobs in Bellingham, but it takes a while. No great climbing close by, but Larabee is scenic and Erie is usually dry and pretty cool, plus squamish is really cool for a weekend trip.
  12. ***I HATE IT WHEN PEOPLE DO THIS**** but, Mr E check out this small Photoshop alter to your excellent photo (attached). I am sorry if this comes over as arrogant, because your photo is already really cool, but this might represent the scene as you saw it (since cameras have trouble picking up such levels of contrast).
  13. Post that N.B. on Index report With pictures
  14. The 300D will not be obsolete in a year. In fact it will take the same pictures today as tomorrow. All the talk about how digital technology isn't to "my level" yet is bullshit. No, you can't click off 50fps 90mb files right now, and you don't need it. The dork behind the light box makes the picture. Check out the Lee Mann link on the previous page, kind of funny equipment notes.
  15. Who cares about composition here? This isn't a photo critique forum, it is for fun. I thought people were posting their favorites, and not worrying about the technical side. If you want to critique photos go to photo.net.
  16. A digital camera that takes good pictures today will still take good pictures when a better model comes out. But there is no question that a digital camera purchase is alot more temporary than a film camera. If you want to stay current it seems you have to be ready to sell your old digital camera, take a few hundred dollar loss (although I wouldn't consider it a loss) and update. You could wait forever for the next great thing to come out, and there always will be now, but think of all the great pictures your missing!
  17. Hey Craig A. have I seen your pictures on photo.net?..they look familiar. They are very very nice.
  18. Maybe there should be a separate Snowpatch Spire category.
  19. Not to get into a digital v film debate, because it is old and tired, but.. These arguments for film compared to digital I am assuming are based on comparison with point and shoot dcams. A newer dslr is a different story. I used to carry my film camera with slide film along with my Canon 10D. Well I gave my camera away because their is no comparison in my opinion. I bought a digital camera because I got sick of spending too much money on film and proccesing, but even if I had a photo lab in my basement I wouldn't switch back. Don't get hung up in megapixels, it is pointless. Check out these links for another opinion. pixelcounting yes some even go so far to compare mf with digital
  20. MAYBE, the D30 is still $500 used, and the 1DS is still 8grr I wonder how much more the metal frame weighs over the plastic? I doubt that the durabiltity of metal means that much. I know it feels alot better though. That new Nikkon looks good compared to the Drebel.
  21. MSNBC. D. Norville new show. Or some other blond woman.
  22. Touching the Void something on tv tonight. CNBCs new D. Norville show I think
