  1. Bronco, it got moved to the trash can because the Admin's didn't want to host any salacious screeds about other sites or be providing a platform for Chris' ongoing battle with sites he'd been banned from. Personally, I'd have shitcanned it just for quoting Dave Matthews' lyrics.
  2. I'm sure there is a board that is much more Squamish oriented, perhaps a better place for your friend to look. If they wanted to climb at Index this is probably the place to look for partners.
  3. I think titles are only bold when you have not read the thread, after looking at it it goes to a normal font.
  4. Nice pair of dinosaur slippers. I've still got my first generation Fires from 1984, I forgot my EB's on a trip to Joshua Tree and wound up trading with Ray Olsen from FROG in an exchange in HVCG. Mine must be on the fifth sole or something; not a modern shoe for certain, but a great pair of all day shoes, mine still get out in the mountains on occasion.
  5. I've never seen a mid/high top in velcro. I just take off my lace up shoes if I need to, but longer routes seem all about the go-go-go and taking shoes off unless absolutely necessary is time squandered. If you've got time to spare to take shoes off between pitches then another minute to deal with laces is NBD.
  6. I PM'd both Kevbone and Grit, neither of whom have been here in awhile. I'm connected to Kevin on Facebook too, so I'll probably poke him there. There is also a Cascade Corridors climbing group on FB that I'll post something in once there is a date/time. Keep me in the loop. Off
  7. True, you can have a lot of fun on a snowboard in crappy slushy snow
  8. I dunno Chris, worrying that a website banning might reflect on a boarder crossing might be bordering on chattering paranoia, One should never clasp anything with PK Dick as the source too close to one's heart, it won't end well. Still, I had a buddy turned back at the Canadian border due to a record of having shoplifted cheese from the Curry Co. store in Yosemite in 1977. Seems that every offense in a National Park is a federal offense hence grounds for entry refusal. He did the whole appeal to the Canadian Embassy, write a letter describing the steps you've taken to reform yourself from a cheese thief, and paid the $1000+ application fee, and he can now enter Canada just like a normal white person.
  9. Great TR, thanks for the retro post. It's a good note for the folks with the early season TR's from this route that it tends to get better on into the spring. Your solo time on this beggars the imagination of old fogeys such as myself who might have made a 3 day outing out of something like this, sounds like an awesome day.
  10. Americans get denied entry to Canada all the time, but it's not about visa's; I imagine the reverse flow experiences a similar weeding of "undesirables"
  11. Pfft, he's Canadian, not Afghani. Canadians don't need visas to come vacation or travel here, only if they're going to work. I believe he's in country at this very moment.
  12. The NW never seemed to have that skier/boarder schism. I skied for at least 15 years but had no gift for it; I never put them back on after the first time I went snowboarding. Eventually my skis and boots went to the Goodwill.
  13. Grant funded ranger positions are unlikely to last past the end of the grant. Besides, climbers are assholes, a little environmental education could be useful.
  14. I've had the Thermals stuck in my head for awhile, not that I mind much, but it's time for them to move on, and this is helping show them the door.
  15. Nice pictures, the overcast makes for a little better color saturation.
  16. Hah, the most likely candidate! Congrats Jason, its a great shot.
  17. I guess it's related thread drift, but I'd be interested in reading more about this trout killing deal, is it because they're planted non-natives? Is there some ecosystem disruption? Not enough mosquitoes?
  18. I was trying to find a picture of a grizzly bear with a passport when I came across this, thought, huh, too odd not to share...
  19. Crumpet and her hour old offspring named Meat.
  20. Good work Oly, that's the sort of awesome history this place can be a good repository for.
  21. Yeah, a pretty good "retreat upwards" but all the wall gear probably made it not as fun as it might have been. Good epic tale, thanks for sharing.
