  1. Just thought I would post this for anyone with one of these stoves. Snow Peak has a recall out on the pump for white gas stoves. Went down to thier office in Clackamas and handed in my old pump and got a new one the same day, no questions asked. Really good customer and nice people.
  2. Can anyone tell me if there is still snow at the Elfin Lakes trailhead and what the conditions are like farther up the Mt. Planning on going up this weekend and doing some skiing.
  3. Has anyone ever skied this? I have read some of the guide books out there. Looking for fidst hand info.
  4. Can't give exact details of the drive up but we went up the Washougal river road about 6-7 miles and took off from there. We ended up talking to one of the local people who lives up there and got some good info for the future.
  5. Shortly after the big dump we had around the new year we went up there. It looks like there would be some kick ass lines on the NE side of Silver Star. When we were up there you could only get to within a couple miles of the trail head. There was about 2 feet of snow on the ground. Not sure what is like now. We are thinking about going up there on Sunday. PM me if you are interestedin going.
  6. Has anyone been in there to do some skiing lately?
  7. You should check out some of the stuff from Hilleberg.
  8. What everyone has said kind of sucks. I grew up in Sultan in the 80's and have not really been back in the last 15 years. I remember it being very nice up there.

    Lunch of the Day

    Bearded Clam ...............................................
  10. Has anyone skied this before. In Backcountry ski Oregon it has a trip in there on Arvie's Glade. Have not been out since this last dump we got. The elevation is 3200". Just wondering if it got any of this freezing rain we have had?
  11. What I was hoping to do is start at Timberline and take at least 2,preferably 3 days, and do some yo-yo skiing around the Mt. I'd like to do it in Late January into February. I am pretty open to anything though
  12. Would anyone be up for doing this trip some time this winter. I have never done but have always wanted to. Probably do it in 2-3 days. I would be on my randonee gear. Don't really have any dates set and can do it pretty much anytime.
  13. Has anyone skied with these guys before? I skied at Mt. Bailey a couple of seasons ago. Went down with a group of five and had a great time. Do you know if it compares to Mt. Bailey? The prices are cheaper but the skiable terrain is less.
  14. You also left off the SOS tranceiver.
  15. I agree with this. Figure out what you want to do and check out what is on the market. I don't think you can really go wrong if you stick with what the equipment is designed for. If it helps I went with the Silveretta 555's and the Garmont G-Ride boots mounted on Atomis TM-EX skis. I am very happy with this set-up. It is not by any means lite but skis great.
  16. Went into US Outdoor store to look at Skis and the LaSportiva Lhotse boot this weekend. I think management at the store needs to rethink who they have working there. I first went to look at the skis. The guy I talked to new his stuff but was so caught up into spoutting bull shit that I turned around and went to try my luck up stairs with the boots. When I get up there the girl that was trying to help customers looked like she had not gotten off her ass in a couple years and didn't do much while I was there. No one there could answer any questions I had about the boots. If anything I came out of there knowing that the boots fit and I will buy them somewhere else. For the skis I am still in the dark. Oh well this is what I get for going into a glorified clothing store.
  17. Thinking about getting a membership for the winter. Anyone out there need an extra person?
  18. Has anyone had any experience with there stuff. They do custom sizes with Schoeller products. The prices don't look to bad either.

    Bear Alert

The Colorado State Department of Fish and Wildlife is advising hikers, hunters, fishermen, and golfers to take extra precautions and be on the alert for bears while in the Dillon, Breckenridge, and Keystone area. They advise people to wear noise-producing devices such as little bells on their clothing to alert but not startle the bears unexpectedly. They also advise you to carry pepper spray in case of an encounter with a bear. It is also a good idea to watch for signs of bear activity. People should be able to recognize the difference between black bear and grizzly bear droppings. Black bear droppings are smaller and contain berries and possibly squirrel fur. Grizzly bear droppings have bells in them and smell like pepper spray.
