  1. Nothing says "please steal my climbing gear" better than a giant TNF logo
  2. Here's a picture of the hat. As a bonus, I also decided to throw in a Tiger's milk energy bar & a roll of single ply toilet paper you may need after eating
  3. Here's a pair a hard to find Black Diamond Carbon Fiber Black Prophets with straight shafts. These are some of the finest tools for alpine routes. Light, damp, nice swing weight, plunge really well, & take all modern BD picks. 1 Adze, 1 hammer. These originally retailed for $600. The Adze tool is almost in brand new condition. The hammer tool has seen more use but is in good serviceable shape. Both currently have Alaska picks. I've had them for a couple of years & never used them, so here they are. In addition to being great ice tools, the picks will glow blue to warn you of approaching orcs, goblins, or ice gubbies. Also included is a Mountain Hardware baseball cap. The hat is $199. the tools are $1. Tools & hat cannot be split. Buyer pays for shipping from Utah.
  4. I have a very nice 2 door Bibler I tent with vestibule for sale. I have only used it about 6 times in the last 2 years. This is the newer version with top mounted vents. The 2 door works well with vestibule as you can cook in the vestibule & exit /enter thru the other door. The only defect is 2 small holes in floor from errant pole placements that have been patched. Tent is otherwise prestine. $325 + shipping. (Tent & vestibule retail for $700). PM me if you are interested Here it is @ Camp 1 on Aconcagua
  5. Anyone ever remove the extra rubber material above the grip area? I always hated how the leash loop around the shaft hangs up on the rubber when you move it up
  6. There are tons of choices. I'd just focus on first finding a pair that fits well, has taped seams, full side zips, & a good internal gaiter setup at the bottom. If you bomb though bushes on your skis, get heavier duty material. If you need superlight weight, get the precip/paclite type pants.
  7. If you like to ski powder, I'd look for something with fatter dimensions.
  8. Depends how much you like them. I've had one pair resoled 5 times. They are the best fitting shoes for me.
  9. I have a few items for sale. Moonstone Profusion jacket. Mens medium. Brand new. Color black. This is Moonstone's copy of the Marmot driclime jacket. Nylon shell with thin polyester lining. Great for ski touring. $30 + shipping Jacket Picture Patagonia Stretch Triolet Pants. Size 32. These have seen alot of use. Full side zips. They have lots of small repairs / blems, but everything works. All zippers & buttons OK. Suspenders OK. Stretch panels in the butt & knees. $40 + shipping (Retail $280) Pant Picture PM me if you are interested.
  10. I checked it out at REI last night. As suspected, it's 2 lbs per boot. Still pretty light for such warmth. I wonder how hard it is to clear out snow from the crampon attachment cleat? Could be a frustrating ordeal in the mountains. Still a cool concept though.
  11. The site says this leather boot is good to -30 and weigh 2 lbs each or per pair? Am I reading that right? Sure sounds good. Too bad they don't have an alpine crampon for it yet.
  12. Here is a big fat belay jacket. Used, but in good shape. The size is mens large. This thing is very warm. It has handwarmer pockets, big insulated hood, & inside pockets for water bottles / gloves. Comes with stuff sack. $60 + shipping.
  13. Find a pair Vans / Raichle snowboard boots on ebay with thermofit / intuition liners (many have them). They go cheap (mine were $15). Transfer the liners to your mountaineering boots. Get the combo nuked in special oven they have at local ski/climbing shop. This costs about $20, or try a beer bribe. I don't recommend trying to heat them up in your own oven. It makes your house smell like the previous owners hot stinky feet & and they are easily ruined by to much heat. In addition to a custom fit, these liners will make your boots about 1 lb lighter per pair.
  14. 15. Ryland, if you knew how to pack your gear, you wouldn't need 3 extra lbs of access zippers & pockets to get at your gear from every possible angle. Yes, I am aware that the Gregory pack is 15L larger. If you can't fit what you need in 90L then you should seriously rethink what you are taking from what you want to what you need. If you absolutely have to have 15L more, add the Serratus alpine pocket. Makes a more versatile pack as you can remove it later for more reasonable size loads.
  16. They'll work, but neither your skis or bindings are great for high speeds or hucking. I use the Nitrogens on tele at the resort & they are good for most conditions, but are definitely scary at higher speeds. If you want a setup for on and off piste, get the Fritschi Freeride bindings on alpine boards. Heavier, but bomber.
  17. This is a stupid pack. Who really needs this many gadgets/pockets/zippers & attachments? All that extra fluff adds up to a pack that weighs something like 8 lbs empty. Get the Serratus Alpinelite 85 which weighs in around 5 lbs and has all the features you need and nothing more. Probably costs about half as much too.
  18. I have both, and consider the Myo 5 to be superior. The light difference between 5 & 8 LED's is not noticeable to me. The on/off/adjustment on the Myo 5 is also easier with gloves on than the Duo.
  19. Thanks. I think I'm going to get the Enclosure Parka. The Golite for $79 is a good deal, but is heavier (although warmer I am sure) & it looks like it has a really long waist (I prefer shorter). The DAS for $150 is also a good deal, but I like darker colors as they dry faster in the sun. The only one available is Gecko green (yuck!).
  20. The Cloudveil uses 260 gram insulation in body & the DAS uses 5.3 oz insulation in the body. If you convert the 260 to ounces, it comes out to 9.3 oz, so I must not be figuring it out correctly? I need a hooded jacket for Aconcagua in January & I like synthetic insulation, so one of these two should do the job. The WT belay jacket is pretty nice too. I have the Primaloft jacket from them & like it alot (although the cuffs are too small & don't stretch).
  21. Can any one comment on the warmth between these two? I can't seem to make any sense of the insulation weights they list. The Cloudveil is 4 oz lighter overall, so I assume it is not as warm. Any comments?
