    Japanese Gardens

Too much work to figure it all out. I just tell people I'm 100% mutt...
  2. Good on you for doing that. Might want to cross post this to the Lost and Forum section though...
  3. The most common loop, which I think your refering to fox goes ozette to sandpoint to cape alava to ozette, little less than 10 miles. Senic but it will be crowded on the weekends and you have to carry a bear bucket. You can camp at Sandpoint or Alava. I recommend somewhere in between (fewer crowds), which the forest service doesn't. If your going on a weekend I would recommend one of Matt's suggestions to the south.
  4. I wonder what his first post was...*chimes*
  5. With a few tent questions going around I thought I would put in my two cents. I bought my Walrus Rapeede XV about 5 years ago for really cheap, but if I had paid full price I would still be happy with it. Its fairly light (sub 6lbs.), very strong and really quick to set up. So if you need a good 4 season tent and can't spend $500, iwould recommend this one. That is if they're still being made... Does anyone know it walrus is still producing new tents for retail or were they complwtely obsolved (sp?) by msr? Either way, great tent
  6. I have a lifelink shovel like this one. Lighter than any others I've handled. It works well for the cascades. I've dug a couple snowcaves with it. Just don't plan on it surviving in tougher environs (alaska).
  7. By phone at 1-800-270-7504 On the web @ www.naturenw.org off the top of my head I remember GI joes, sportco(not positive), or basically anywhere else you can get a hunting liscense. You can just pick one up in George though on your way in. There sold at the Colonial Store there according to smoot. Hope that helps.
  8. Thats really a shame. It is a good place to learn. The sad part is that the hangers will probably just be jacked again. That said I'd be willing to help.
  9. Baring should be a obvious anwser.
  10. How does everyone like the new (2002) Frenchman Coulee: A Rock Climber's Guide? Are there any other resources, this is the only guide I know of for the area? Is it worth $26 @ rei? Thanks.
  11. On a somewhat related note is the water level low enough to boulder at rattlesnake (I would think so)? Also does anyone know about some boulders near the base of si's north pilar. Caveman said something about them a couple years ago, I've never checked it out.
  12. Did you happen to follow some old track through some very steep trees just east of the peak? the correct route is to drop over this col around denman. Opposed to going directly down this drainage, which as you might have guessed is what I did.
  13. Haha. Good read. Persindex is the correct name, or at least the one used by all my peakbagger buddies.
  14. A buddy and I climbed the fly (see picture), this weekend. There was only one spicy part of mixed about 3/4 of the way up the couliour. Otherwise just a 35-45 degree snow haul. The snow was less consolidated than I expected, still fun though. Note: this photo is not current.
  15. Any ideas on where it might be between point a and b? I Should be up there tomorrow.
  16. You should have no problem. Even last year a greater snowfall year, later in the winter, you could drive to the trailhead. Correct me if I'm wrong Jopa, but I think the trailhead is marked with a few flags too. Have fun.
  17. Maybe a stupid question, but is there anything you can add to a non-dry rope to make it a dry rope?
  18. Why do you like the Mammut's better? I don't have any reason to think otehrwise just wondering what the advantage is in your eyes.

    Extra Rap Cord

What the best place to pick up a static line? Buy it by the foot?
  20. Add strap reinforcement in the form of cordura backing sewn through the pack and the straps Widen the belt with a wedge-shaped piece of cordura. It's still too big. If you can sew, it's no biggee, if you can't - get a different pack. Just buy the Jam instead of the gust. its 20oz., a bit smaller but more technical. More technical in that it has side compression straps, water bottle holders and is hydration compatible. My only concern for you is it might be a little small. Check it out. Quality pack in my opinion.
  21. I've got one you might be interested in. I will shoot you a pm when I get a moment at home.
