  1. I have plenty of material. Matter of fact I'm going to make some of it into a skirt today.
  2. Kurt, you need some new material.(insert snoring emoticon here.)

    Last Ascent

Seriouly I got into an animated discussion about the different kinds of fir trees which immediately broke down into this. Kurt feel free to pontificate. I rarely lose arguments on the small details of tree subspecies but in this case my sparring partner had the right idea and my dad carried it to its rightful conclusion. But on to what is SEXY. There is old growth logging going on RIGHT NOW within 30 miles of Enumclaw. Anyone want the skinny?
  4. Pete, You are welcome. You owe me a ropegunning for that.
  5. Ahh okay forget all the nice things I said about Tacoma. I am hanging out tomorrow night with another of the cc.com fillies anyway and not with you fellers no matter where you drink.

So what is this business about a fir tree actually being some sort of a hemlock tree? Some sort of subspecies?
  7. But you said you were leaving Thursday?! What Thursday?
  8. Or even of the KTK Ladies' Tea Auxililary. You can fill out an application...but, well you know.
  9. I hate to suggest Tacoma is a good idea but it could be Figger 8's Alaska sendoff!
  10. About seven summers ago a friend and sometime confidante of mine, Chuck Drake, went on a trip to Denali. Weather and stuff made Deanali a no-go so they tried Hunter. Chuck and his partner did not make it home alive. I think I cried for a couple of months after that. Tonight I saw some people off who are going to do Denali, and I find myself feeling pretty anxious and unsure about the whole deal. I was not able to say the word "goodbye " to any of them. Anyone else have this kind of experience?
  11. Dear Lambone, Shut up. Thank you.
  12. Well, E-doggy, I've now lived in the Big City for longer than I lived in the City of Density and surroundings...I prolly forgot my roots!
  13. You Tacomans are welcome to have a Pub Club whenever you want...just don't expect to get a big turnout!
  14. Um, it's called detuning, and it is not just the province of free-heelers.

    Chatter

I'm going to open up the chatroom for a little bit if anyone wants to chestbeat about their weekend on the boss's time! http://www.cascadeclimbers.com/threadz/jchat.php
  16. Get an old iron (one with no steam holes) from Goodwill and some wax and a scraper and do your own hand waxes. Get base repair and edge work done at a good shop. This is the maximally easy way, as serious tuning doesn't need to be done all that often and it is super duper easy to learn how to do a nice hot wax.
  17. Well, right now I can't get my feet out of the snow for stopping, so the added component of crampons might help that. With my busted ankles being what they are, if I don't get them off the snow and use other things to stop, there is going to be some consequence. Like if I am lucky, owowowowowiiiee!
  18. Down with YUPPIE fuck fuck FERN BARS! The revolution will not be televised!
  19. The Zoo has no food and the parking can be oh so suck. Plus we just had one there. Hale's is an overpriced yuppy fuck fuck crappy fern bar, which is not the kind of place I want to spend my hard-earned cash. Love the kids, but not gonna work hard to have an all-ages PC all that often. Plus at least one of them is out of town. The Ballard Alehouse sounds pretty okay to me.
  20. We did every position, and with left and right hand, and sure, I feel okay about being able to stop in the conditions I was working in this weekend. Now on ice, well, that's another story altogether. We didn't do anything with a pack on, but honestly, I am a cripple and the extra weight I carry on my back is not that much. Next time though we will be adding packs and crampons to the mix.
  21. No, I didn't sustain any injuries, I'm just (still) rilly sore from throwing myself down the hill and then trying to stop. For me though this time of year represents the low point in my physical conditioning.
  22. So yesterday I spent a full day learning ice axe arrest stuff. Today I feel like if my fingernails and hair follicles could feel pain, they would. It hurt to put my jacket on after dinner. Is this normal? owowowowowow!

    WTF?

Another thumbs-up for MEC Brand stuff fitting the long-armed among us. I have an inch and a half ape index and can get away with a women's M. If you have to get into modifications the REI repair desk can do anything Rainy Pass can do for half the price and all of the quality.
  24. I just want to point out that Distel is posting from vacation. Addict! I can prolly take you-need to see how my werk skedule pans out.
