  1. I have a pair of Kids 22.5 (size 4) and 23.5 (size 5) snowboard boots\bindings. I bought them at REI in basement (used Rental)a couple of years ago. They have a little of the wet smell to them. Free to whoever wants them.

You can also remove the plate form the bottom of the boots and use them just as winter boots if you want. Might be a little overkill\heavy.

PM if intersted. May be at the Rope-Up this weekend.

  2. I am sadden by the news. I knew Mizuki for a couple of years. Never climbed together but ran into each other many times on the trail, VW or at a mountaineers event. She helped instuct at a couple of field trip I led and was very dependable.

I can still hear her asking questions for her first Denali attempt (and summit) in 2004.

    My condolences to both families.

  3. Lithium batteries have an operating temp down to -40. Much better then the 72 of alkaline. The lithium are lighter and will usually last longer in electronic devices.

I used an olympus camera on denali with no issues. I think as long as the batteries are good, the camera will work well.

  4. Heading up to Jasper BC this weekend and wondering if there are any good areas along the highway to pull over and throw down some sleeping bags. Preferbably not soo close to the highway and clear of trees. Planning on watching the meteor shower with the family.

    Thanks

    Chris

  5. I know we got permits for filming in Denali NP for a Non Profit organizaion. It was easy and I think they even waived the fee since we were non-profit.

Basically they want to know what\where you are doing your filming. If you will have one camera set up in el cap meadows vs a full movie production that may require blocking traffic or other NP employees. Then they can require you pay more for extra resources.

  6. How about prosecution for filming in a nation park without a permit. I'm assuming he didn't have one because if they put down "climbing Delicate Arch", it may have been flagged and denied. It could fall under Breaking News, but probably not filmed by a news crew.

    From Arches NP Site

Permits are not generally required for:

Visitors engaged in filming/photography intended for their personal use and enjoyment

The filming of a breaking news event by news crews

Filming conducted pursuant to a cooperative agreement or contract with the National Park Service

A request for a filming or photography permit may be denied if:

The requested activity represents a potential for an adverse impact on the parks natural, cultural, wilderness or recreational resources or the visitor experience, or poses health or safety risks

The requirements for supervising the project exceed the staffing capacity of the affected park

The applicant fails to obtain insurance/bonding, or to agree to pay assessed cost recovery

The request includes entry into areas closed to the visiting public or activities not permitted to the average park visitor

  7. Fooled you. That is the decoy sign. We were at a different location.

That sign is for the scrambling class. I don't have anything fancy like that or even a paper plate to attach to the sign. Everyone had a route description to the campground. If they couldn't follow it, maybe mountaineering isn't for them smile.gif

  8. Just a friendly heads up. The everett mountaineers will be in the Icicle this weekend. We will be at Roto Wall, Baney's Rubble, Bruce's Boulder and Lower Clamshell (just below clamshell, not in the book). If you were planning on climbing at one of this locations, ask the leader and we will try to accomodate you.

  9. I think that any adjustments that you can do with film and a darkroom would be ok. Contrast, black and white and cropping. If you are adding or removing anything (except cropping) then you are altering the image. Then it is not the same picture you took. Part of photography is timing and waiting for that shot.

The one I have not made a decision is merging shots together into a panorama type picture. I have a couple of shots from alaska that would make good scenery shots.

  10. That is below minimum wage in wash. If I fremember right, Min wage is $7.35 an hour (7.35*40 hours a week)*4 weeks = $1176.

For salary reviews, I was told to look at monster.com (Salary Review) and salaryreview.com. If this is for divorce\child support. Old pay stubs or Tax records can be used for income verification. My GF went through all of this and in doing so, I learned a lot.

She also got a LOT of legal advice from the legal forums on craigslist.com. Actually talked to lawerys that gave her info she wouldn't have been able to find out by herself.

  11. I think the hike took us 3-4 hours and something like 5 miles. The first 3-4 miles is pretty flat till you get to a lake and then got steeper. I think the trail tops out at 10 or 11k. It's pretty high up there. We had just come off the grand teton (13K) so we were used to the altitude.

I think there were a bunch of routes that were around 5.6 but I don't remember anything around 5.2. I don't have the guide book in front of me so can't be sure. I think the eastiest on Pingora was 5.6. If you do East ridge of wolfs head, be aware that if you pitch it out from top of the ramp, it's something like 12 pitches. We were under the impression that it would only be 4-5 pitches. It ended up taking us 12 hours round trip. We talked to other parties and they didn't think it would take so long either. One party got down at midnight.

Here are some picture from my trip

  12. Is it just me, or does anyone else find it amazing that our government can track a cow born in Canada almost three years ago, right to the stall where she sleeps in the state of Washington, and they tracked her calves to their stalls. But they are unable to locate 11 million illegal aliens wandering around our country. Maybe we should give them all a cow.

    CONSTITUTION

They keep talking about drafting a Constitution for Iraq. Why don't we>just give them ours? It was written by a lot of really smart guys, it's worked for over 200 years, and we're not using it anymore.
