  1. You leave your crashpad parked at Rocky Mountain NP even though it's only a 1-mile hike in to your super-secret, totally-stokedom V12 problem that now goes because you chipped a hold. Your friend's 3-year-old climbs better than you.
  2. Therefore it is wise to have Harry Potter to be your climbing partner.
  3. Don't know about the 20th, but I'll be able to tell you how it's like on the 21st. Any preferences? I was thinking Fletcher.
  4. 1987 in the Sandia Mountains. I was 11 and my dad taught me. I loved the climbing part, hated the rappelling - some things never change.
  5. Same here Bug. And I usually use a clove hitch on both pieces. Rarely do I oppose the pieces as protection but have done it a number of times building anchors.
  6. I ride on Shukans so everything looks fat to me.
  7. Whoa you were definitely riding the plab boards weren't you? What's the cut on those obese boys?
  8. Oh, don't apologize. You're absolutely right. I've lived here for over four years now after living in Washington and have exactly ONE 14er under my wing. And I did it because I thought it was going to be a fun 4th class scramble. Boy was I wrong. I've done some mixed climbing on Quandry, but once the NE face pettered out to the slogging, we rappelled.
  9. Are you going to use those when you go walrus hunting? ScottyBob's must have come out with a new retro model this year!

    HELL YES

Went running yesterday in shorts and a t-shirt and looking out my sliding glass door, I have over two inches of freshies on my balcony. One more storm and I'm finding some backcountry stashes. Funny to be thinking about skiing but knowing I'm climbing in the Flatirons on Tuesday morning. Hell, anything is better than the white strip of death .
  11. I always look forward to your posts and your flora and fauna pics. And I think your friend is stronger than my hometown Bears. (groan)
  12. And so Dru can find your booty gear on the mountain.
  13. Ok since nobody else has brought up the comparison, I'll be the ignoramous. Why would you want military webbing as opposed to the recreation grade? Stronger, more resilient, better in elements?
  14. Damn! You beat me to it!! Saw this same topic brought up on some other board. Maybe an independent source will start banging out some tests on the C3s and C4s. I own one BD cam and pretty much all of their tapers. So I don't have brand loyalty to them. My question is it only BD that is outsourcing to the new "Made in Taiwan"? I know TNF outsources to China as does REI. Have the quality of its products gone down as well? Or you can take the conscientious consumer stance on products made in a communist dictatorship that censors human rights and is raping the environment so badly that it makes the U.S. look guilty of nothing more than heavy petting?

    Ski's?

I started by using some Tuas with 404s. Half way through that first season I got some AT boots. And having done both, I would use AT boots every single time! They are rather stiff and uncomfortable for anything less steep than kicking steps into slopes. But what you mountains you hihglight, you can easily get an ascent in AT boots and don't need the mountaineering boots. Also the difference between a binding like the 404s and something like the Pures or Naxos is HUGE!!! In the 404s I felt I sometimes had control. In the Pures, I DO have control. Here's a Silvretta Pures pic of my setup
  16. No fair. We might have gotten an inch up in the mountains here in Colorado from the storm today - though when I checked the Indian Peaks cam it wasn't even snowing there. I think I like my skis too much to try what you did, but good on you for getting out. I was mountain biking and bouldering in upper 70s when you were bundled up.
  17. I have a nest by my bedroom window. Actually the wasps and I cohabit peacefully on my balcony. It was the yellow jackets I had to get a trap for.
  18. Do their shoes even touch the rock going that fast?!
  19. So are you just poetic or who are you ripping this from?
  20. I was just about to say that. I remember visiting my dad down there when I was a kid and going rock climbing on a Friday and going skiing and getting sunburnt on Saturday.
  21. That would at least give the tourons something to talk about while they gawk through their binoculars.
  22. I thought you were going to link to the 2-kilometer climb in Greenland. That one caught my attention, especially the rappel in the waterfall.
  23. I figure it can hold me falling: Space Teether
  24. Went bouldering with the occasional sound of mountain bikers wizzing past below me. Took a while to warm up but ended up ticking two problems that had spit me off unceremoniously in the past. Enjoyed a nice sunset as the sun went behind the Rockies. But I didn't take purdy pictures like you.
