Hey why don't you make some new readable good topos? Or take pictures of the crags? A personal opinion and not to be taken personally is that the topos are way sub standard drawings. And what is the deal with the book binding falling apart? I like the old POS white book better. Look at Jeff Smoot's Washington Rock Climbs book!! Now that is a grade A Perfecto examle of a good book. I like the ideas of photos of the crags with overlays.

Right on Fred, I agree with you on some of your statements... My point was just a sample of facts as an outsider sees them. I climb with a loose group of partners and I would bother to argue some of your statements as well if I thought it would do any good... Yawn I understand people needing\wanting instruction and that is fine by me. Maybe on a crag like Snow Creek Wall you can topo the wall in sections. Or split photos with software. Topo from OSpace Left then right then the tower areas each seperately too?? Ok I'll stick my neck out here as I feel obligated.. The Mtnrs seem to have swarmed the Icicle as usual every spring. Don't they have other areas to overpopulate instead of popular areas?! The impact they put on the parking areas are extreme as well. Forcing the inevitable future crackdown and resentment of local landowners which they are not the only ones guilty of this. I saw people camping on the private driveway across the Bridge Creek Campground this weekend too. If you want to preserve access and limit the amount of regulation there already is then why camp in these areas, and park 15 cars at turnouts when you can carpool?! Anyway back to the subject. I have been almost injured by 2 different parties dropping gear on 2 seperate incidents this year I also think that at times some of them are too inexperienced to be where they are. This is not all of them though. It becomes painfully obvious when it takes some of them 4 pitches to climb routes like Midway... Someone internally in the Mtnrs should take notice of this and act if you ask me. I think it may be partially correct to say that due to their numbers they are bound to have accidents and are good about reporting them as well.

Mike you should narrow down between leathers and plastics first. I say leathers for starters since they are more versatile for simply hiking too. I recommend you get them at REI if you think you may return them since they will let you return anything I personally think a boot like the Makalu (which I have) is perfect for me. I have a medium sized width foot. It takes a long time for these to break in but after that happens they ROCK! They are lower profile and easy to walk in on glaciers during the summer months and flex well after break in so as to get all crampon point on the snow. Let's hear some other opinions though
