    Winterizing

If you are going to caulk around your windows don't caulk the heads. There should be a piece of flashing there that needs to be left free to let water out of the wall.
  2. I am probably going to have the surgery. I will let you know how it works.
  3. My orthopedist just referred me to physical therapy for similar knee pain symptoms. Does anyone have a recommendation on a good physical therapist on the eastside?
  4. I just got back from seeing a shoulder specialist and he is recommending arthroscopy to fix a frayed labrum. He said that it was quite possible that I could be back to working out in 10-14 days after the surgery. I was wondering if there is anyone who has had a frayed labrum cleaned up and what their experience was.

    Geek Pickup Lines

I found these on a blog. Your name is Leslie? Look, I can spell your name on my calculator! My 'up-time' is better than BSD. Want to see my Red Hat? Mind if I run my sniffer to see if your ports are open? You can put a Trojan on my Hard Drive anytime. I'm attracted to you so strongly, scientists will have to develop a fifth fundamental force. You put the SPARC in my workstation. You have an empty slot and I have the card to fill it. I was hoping you wouldn't block my pop-up. Girl, I wish I was your differential, because then I'd be touching all your curves. You must've been made by Intel to be that hot!
  6. CBS, If you need an assistant I would be happy to lend a hand.
  7. I am not saying which are positive and which are negative. You won't hear me endorsing the paid sterilization of welfare receipients. I do think that intelligence is not always selected for, but that could just be a geek talking. The reason for my comment is that I don't see as many negative traits being selected against in a society in which very few people have to fend for themselves the way that non-domesticated animals do. Justin had a good quote in the ephedra thread. I think that somethings are so easy now that we don't have to work or prove ourselves to pass on our genes.
  8. I actually wonder if in some ways we are regressing. If you compare the family size between people with positive genetic traits and those with less postive traits it is possible that some who shouldn't be passing on their genes are doing it with more frequency than those who should.
  9. If they didn't have good support where they are hiding someone would have taken the US up on the $25,000,000 bounty. If they had good support where they attacked, they wouldn't attack.
  10. I am certain that they have a fair number of supporters, but that number is much smaller in the places that they have attacked than it is in the places where they live.
  11. You can't seriously think that there are a significant number of al-Zarqawi sympathizers in Jordan. That is like saying that conservatives supported Timothy McVeigh.
  12. Here and here are lists of the sites that I like and frequent. They are both mountaineering or skimountaineering related sites. Many are personal TR sites, but there are some gear and other sites as well.
  13. I simply pray to have fun and return my group home safely. It the climb will involve and above average amount of hazard evaluation or go/no go decision I will ask for the wisdom to make good decisions which support having fun and getting home safely. I don’t bother to pray for success, or good conditions. I don’t think God cares about my successes in the mountains.
  14. At the risk of being castigated for making a serious reply and there by derailing pages of good spray I will say this. Yes is does work. I know several people who took Metabolife or a similar product and lost fat. Ephedra is a stimulant and it will boost your metabolism. I didn't notice any adverse personality effects in those people. One person told me she had trouble sleeping for a few weeks, but after that was fine. Caffeine was a key ingredient in the Metabolife she was taking and I am not qualified to say if it was the Ephedra, the Caffeine or both that caused the sleeping issue. Other than that it worked well. I am not sure that I would recommend to anyone that they take it knowing the possible problems, but that is your call. You might loose weight without a diet, but you might die.
  15. There is a small island in Mountain Lake on Orcas Island too. I had never really thought of the Matryoshka like quality.
  16. Thanks for the update. I hope that your recovery goes better than expected and you can get back into the hills.
  17. The passenger side window is under water. The car was listing pretty heavily. The dark you see is the headliner. I don't know about the windshield, but the photo was probably take about 7:00am this morning. I was still pretty dark.

    Del.icio.us

After months of meaning to try it I finally registered at del.icio.us a couple of weeks ago and found it to be quite cool. It is a social bookmarking site where you can post links with keyword tags attached. You and others can search for tags and see what sites other people have found related to a certain topic. If you post a site that someone else has posted you can click and see other sites they have posted and what they may have found that is interesting to you. It is of course dominated by technology links, but there are a few good climbing sites posted which I had not seen before. I know that at least some of you have checked it out, there are three other people who have bookmarked cc.com, but I thought that some of the other geeks might find it interesting.
  19. The MSR snowshoes have some great features, but I really like my Atlas 1230's. They are a bit heavier, but they can take almost any abuse you through at them. The binding system is just awesome too. They are more than $150 though. You might be able to find the used online.
  20. I was worried about clicking the link thinking it might be a cam of BP's member. Thankfully it was just good clean freshiez.
  21. That is a great line up that you have assembled. Good work. Now if you can only get them to fly to Seattle...
  22. Thanks for the link. That helps. 5mm is only .098" on each side. That is basically the edge and maybe a hair of base, and that is only at the tip. I will just follow the recomendations of BD, which is probably where I should have started looking.
  23. I was wondering who might be the first to say that they had been charged for the stove fuel and of course the work done in carrying said fuel to camp.
