  1. dude, they are fat powder boards... here is the REI sizing chart for the Gotamas: http://www.rei.com/rei/gearshop/sizefinder/VolklSkiSizing.html#753133 will take best offer.
  2. Skied three days, gettinga longer size. They are badass... The Volkl Gotama Ski has proven once again to be one of the most versatile skis in the market today. The Gotama has an updated graphic for the '08 season, but more importantly it is slightly stiffer. The new Volkl Gotama skis are about 5% stiffer than any previously made Volkl Gotama in the mid body of the ski. The Volkl Gotama will continue to be one of the most versatile skis on the market with the new Power/Tough Box construction. Although the new Gotama is stiffer it is just as nimble as the old, just more versatile when you are on firm snow or heavy snow. The core is all new with the Power/Tough Box construction which uses a dual layer wood core, with the bottom half of the core utilizing a lighter wood. This still gives the ski a nice smooth, even, flex. There is also extra fiberglass wraps in the midbody of the ski that provides resistance to the binding pulling out. This will still give those of you who ski deep snow the great flotation you want and those of us who have to ski groomers sometime better edge hold and more ability to plow through crud. The present season's Volkl Gotama has paid off and with an updated graphic the Gotama will remain a go-to-newschool backcountry ski for next season. For the good big-mountain skier who wants the ultimate versatility in bringing park tricks to the huge parts of the mountain. Features: - Power/Tough Box Construction - Dual Layer Sensorwood - Twin Tip '08 Volkl Gotama Skis Dimensions: 133-105-124 Turn Radius: 23.5m@ 176 cm

  12. I wadded the river once to get to Synco, about 200 yds west of the approach gully the river widens out and it's doable. The current was stronger then we thought it was going to be and it was actually quite scary. About waist deep in the middle. Plus I was cold all day after that... So, I'd probly walk the river again rather then ford it. The ice on Syncro is fat, 1st pitch is in, but the quality is mostly poor. We did Oregon Jack today and it was nice.
  13. oops, well you know how it goes with time and dates on a road trip...
  14. Climbed: 1/15 - Marble, ICY BC and Deeping wall, both are pretty fat, but top pitch of Icy BC doesn't look ready yet. 1/16- Carlsberg - Sweet 1/17- Synchronicity - Ice was good, a bit rotten, tough to get good screws but the sticks were bomber. The approach is hard now, you can follow our crappy posthole trail, but I wouldn't recommend it. It's cold here tonight! Cheers from the Mile-0, they have free wireless now.
  15. we hiked the river today, it sucked. there was a crust layer underneath 6 inches of fresh that broke through randomly every ten steps... but the climb was pretty cool! a little rotten from the sun exposure, good sticks but bad screws. seems like the avy danger is high now with that crust layer underneath, it rained here Monday then got cold.

    Goodbye

Hey Mike, good luck in your venture...I know how it feels to wanna be on da move! Not sure how set on SLC you are, but fwiw I have never really felt 'at home' since I left Bozeman. You might want to spend little time there and check out the opportunity. You'd dig it for shizzl. Cya!
  17. Not much snowpack yet I don't believe. Te whole mountain was bone dry just a couple weeks ago.
  18. That's cool...it will be interesting to see how they turn Hyalite into a competition venue. Seems like loacals run laps up most of the routes there... November 29th seems a bit early, hope all the good stuff is in. My bet is on Pete!
  19. they make a clip on vestibule for the Eldo. I've got one, works pretty good.
