  1. Wow. Nice work! Yeah - what are you training for?
  2. Well if anyone wants to meet up at Rocky Butte anyways, let me know. Tomorrow after 4 would be ideal... I'm new to the area and will bring a rack and a rope if someone wants to show me around...
  3. Well dang it, maybe I'll just have to come on Tuesday too. Might be towards the tail end of daylight, but it will be a sucessful day if I can jump on at least one rope... Went and checked out Rocky Butte today - I don't know the names of everything, but the one wall just north of where the stone bridge on the main road was pretty wet still. I ended up doing some laps on the wall up top for a while - pretty nice considering it's so close...
  4. I'll be there tonight (just to check the place out) and Wednesday...
  5. Gone. 12 mens - gray and red - brand new, they just don't fit me as well as they should (a bit snug). Retail new for $119 or so - first $50 takes 'em. Here's their details from the Keen site: KEEN MENS OCHOCO WATERPROOF Runners know what makes or breaks a shoe: the midsole. The Ochoco's exceptional midsole system provides the support and structure necessary to cradle the foot for long runs on uneven terrain. The shoe's asymmetrical eyestay flexes with the midsole, providing pinch-free forefoot flex while the eVENTĀ® waterproof barrier protects from inclement weather. - Metatomical EVA Footbed - Quindensity Midsole - S3 Heel Support Structure - Full Foot Protection Plate - Carbon Rubber Multi-directional 3mm Lug Outsole - Free Flex Asymmetric Lace Design - eVENTĀ® Waterproof Barrier
  6. Haven't you ever seen On Her Majesty's Secret Service?
  7. I wouldn't say bad... just a bit nearsighted. It was helpful though - I only had 1 cupcake last night instead of 2, and carried kids up to bed instead of making 'em walk. FEEL TEH BURNZ0R.
  8. I'm totally game for some post-work ropeups... 6 months new to the area and yet to really go anywhere, simply for lack of partners and no lack of work. Time to prioritize methinks. I'm also going in to PRG from time to time if anyone could use a consistent partner... Looking at some trips this summer (Mt. Olympus) I need to start getting in shape for that and could use the encouragement.
  9. Altitude Slickness - just hoping that by getting this out there it'll help me get out there and keep feeding it content. A work in progress. The design is a slightly modified WordPress template, which will be replaced sometime... well actually, who knows. There's a lot of content that needs to be caught up on as well, so stay tuned.
  10. How about bringing back the "next" button for browsing the threads... It's a lot easier target when you're skimming vs. the little angle bracket deal. Not a big deal, but just something I've been missing.
  11. From North Bend, Washington, and going through a bit of withdrawal. So far so good, we love the place, but I would love to connect with someone willing to show me around the local crags on both sides of the river (we actually live in the 'Couv). Lead up to .9 trad, can probably follow a bit harder after getting back into climbing shape. Have gear, car, rope - just want to get out a bit before the rain hits. PM me or email seth _AT_ wasaindustries dot com
  12. Thanks for this - This route is on my short list to do this year, and I'm looking forward to it. Any reports in the meantime are encouraging...
  13. heh, woke up to snow in NB this morning... a very light dusting of slush down at 500ft, but all of Si was white from about 900ft up...
  14. Like it or not, thanks for doing it Joel. have fun in Chamonix, and PM me if you're ever up for some midweek cragging or alpine stuff while you're around...
  15. I used to have a pair of german wool snow pants that were good for winter camping... heavy as hell, but doubled fabric with a WP layer in between over the knees. The last pair I bought had a little surprise in a side pocket - some folding snow goggles in a little pouch.
  16. C'mon out to North Bend - there's always room up at Rattlesnake Lake...
  17. I guess I was mostly thinking of snow issues - how the sil nylon holds up to being buried under a few seasons of snow crystals and the like....
  18. Any recommendations? I'm in the market for a Betamid, with the idea that it would be frequently used on snow and in typical PNW alpine and back-country environs. Initially, I've leaned towards the standard Beta with the thought that the a Betalite would get thrashed a lot faster. The weight difference seems worth the durability factor, but all I've been able to find as far as recommendations is the Lite, with no comparison or info on real-world durability. Any insight would be appreciated.
  19. Hey, cool! I'm actually looking at this camera quite seriously, so some additional insight/samples will be useful...
  20. mmm... gotta love the kalalau... you guys hike in? Saturday I took a buddy up the Toof'... his first alpine excursion, and a good shake down trip for me.
  21. I did this one a couple of weekends ago... Fun scramble, if you can beat the crowds. We counted over 160 individuals between the lakes and the Denny Creek slides on their way up, and about a third had overnight packs on... Good times though- perfect weather, and it sure beat mowing the lawn.
  22. I used to climb with a guy that always called them "proo-siks". I called him the king of prooshia.
  23. Scott's Dairy Freeze. Shakes and burgers and chicken and such, and I think there's a Ms. Pacman game back there too...
  24. I picked up my first summit of Rainier- We shuttled up the Emmons-Winthrop route on Fri/Sat and had an absolute blast... Pics and TR to follow soon...
