  1. Hey, I have a pair of new XL Titanal 2's (with wide brakes) that I need to get rid of. I got them because at the time they fit my DH boots ( I did not have ronde's). I used them once (so I guess they are practically new). But since then I bought some AT boots and they require a size Large binding. So if you or someone you know has big ol feet and needs a pair of "new" bindings. Give me a hollar. Make me an offer. These are currently on a pair of atomic tourcap lights. I may be willing to sell them as a set if you need (for a few bucks more of course). And come to think of it I also have some skins for the package if the price is right. Thanks Peace Kyle
  2. I have noticed that there are way too many rods and not enough cones out there climbing. ......little hidden meaning......sorry The only use I have found for red light is in the tent. It helps avoid getting slapped by your climbing buddy. I absolutely hate it when they feel the need to shine the light in your face while talking. I would not pack any extra though, as it is not that big of a deal. I have a cheap-0 "Rayovac" headlamp. It is actually pretty sweet. It has 3 modes #1 is a halogen light that can be focused (and it pretty damn bright) #2 is a blue LED that is nice for around camp or slogging up a boot trail, #3 is a red LED that is nice for tent use or also around camp. It is a lightweight lamp and it uses AAA's which is nice. It can be found at most general purpose stores I got mine at a SUPER WAL-MART in Missoula. It was awesome!!!! I could buy a gun/ammo/gunrack, oil for my truck, A "U.S.A." T-shirt, can of chew, pork rinds and a six pack of Billy Beer!!
  3. If any of you would pay attention you would notice that one of Lenins shoes is coming apart. Do you think it is a coincidence that he walking in the direction of Dave Page's? Bruthas gotta get his kicks pimped!!
  4. A woman with an infant in her arms gets on the bus and as she does the bus driver says "Christ almighty!! That is the ugliest baby I have ever seen!" The woman, very upset by this walks to the back of the bus and sits down next to an elderly man. Noticing that she is crying he asks her what is wrong. She replies "well When I got on the bus the bus driver insulted me. The gentleman next to her replied back "that is not right! He is a public servant, he has no right to insult you. You should go up there and give him a piece of your mind!" The woman says, "you know what I think I will" Cheering her on the man says "good for you, I'll hold your monkey"
  5. "Wayne and Colin both use them if that means anything." Wayne Brady and Colin Mochrie? The guys from "Who's line is it anyway"??!!!?? Sweet. I am getting some.
  6. Why did they close it? It was open a few weeks ago, and in great condition.
  7. "Have fun riding your axe down the hill bitch" Wow, Eddy (or is it Edith), you got me there. I mean, the way you called me a "bitch"....TOUCHE!! How do I respond to such witty retort? You are so eloquent and well versed. That must have take hours of research and fact-finding. You seem a little cranky. Why don't you take a crap and a nap (and a Midol). I am sure there are tens of people that would agree that the ONLY way to travel on a glacier is skis, I am just not one of them. I am sorry that I did not agree with you. Life is full of disappointment, get used to it, your parents did. Most of what I am talking about pertains to actually being on a rope bidding for the summit. It is hard to ski on a rope team. Do you ski up Dissappointment Cleaver? (Don’t answer that...I don't really care) Have a swell day!
  8. "or for using as a balancing bar while shitting in a crevasse " That is the biggest advantage!! While doing the devils loop around jack mountain it came in pretty handy. At devils camp there is a wood box covering a crap hole. So instead of getting splinters and my ass bitten by spiders I hooked a tree that was a few feet in front of me and well....no splinters!
  9. Yup. Except that the right tool for glacier slogs are ski poles and skis, not a big heavy old school axe. Way to go Ed, once again you have completely missed the bus (the short bus). My axe weighs 20 ounces and does not extend past my pack. My skis/boots weigh...what.....15pounds and extend 3 FEET from my pack. Again....for the slow kids different tools for different situations. good luck pulling nails with that screwdriver. you are aptly named.
  10. No, it is a difference of opinion. I like my ice axe, you like your ice hatchet. My grandfather was a carpenter and he always told me to use the right tool for the job. Same applies here. Don't use a screwdriver to pull nails, don't use a 80cm axe to climb steeps. I am just choosing the tool that best suits my "job". You do the same and together we will cure cancer, end world hunger and make the Balkans a better place to vacation. God bless Texas!!! (and your axe)
  11. Well, it was pretty sweet. Clear Skies, full moon, not too crowded, and a glissade trail(more like a bobsled course) from Pikers to the Lunch Counter! three hours up 20 min down, I like that.
  12. >>>>>"As far as making an anchor... You can build a snow anchor out of anything, ski poles included. The most important aspect of an anchor is to back it up with other items. "<<<<<<< Yeah..... I don't know if I would trust a ski pole anchor. Exactly how would you do that if you were holding the weight of your partner? If you can't place the ski pole how can you place back-up anchors? Sorry, I am going to have to call "Shananigans" on you. I think that I will use the axe, and only the axe while on a rope.
  13. b-rock, We now refer to them as FREEDOM-Whores. Thank you
  14. sweet I knew I wasn't insane. Crazy yes but not insane. thanks all yeah I know russ, When I was younger I made this mix up. But to me tits on a 2X4 were WAY more worthless , so I figured why change.
  15. specialed.....is the axe a "ice and snow tool".....or are you? sorry could not resist...just kidding. I suppose it is all personal preference. I am not climbing the Kautz ice wall or anything here but, I have never had a problem with my 80cm (sorry said it was an 85 earlier). Self arresting is easy, it is great for moderate stuff and still ok for the steeps (ie Shuksan pyramid shute). If someone falls it is easy to plunge, and it makes a great anchor/belay if someone does go in. I am kinda glad my partners have long axes, I feel a lot better knowing there is a big anchor holding me. I agree about the poles, they are great for the approach, but once I am on the rope the poles are as worthless as tits on a board. And when on a rope, say, traversing a ridge, I like to have a few points of contact and the longer axe allows for that. As for weight, my axe is around 20oz, and weights less than my 45cm 2nd tool. So again.... personal preference I guess. I just wanted to know if anyone else out there was hauling a long axe, apparently not. I suppose I will be easy to spot on the mountain this weekend! I'm the guy with the big ass axe. but if the ladies ask I can say "I have a bigger tool that specialed." peace
  16. Ok, I had my preconceived about this place. I expected them to be pompas and arrogant at first. Unfortunately, I have had similar experiences with other specialty climbing shops in the area, but not the case here. I went in on Sunday with my entire family (Mom Dad Brother, Sister and SO's) and we were treated great. Not sure what his name was but he had blonde hair a kick ass pair of sideburns! He helped us with all our questions (primarily on glacier glasses). He really knew his stuff and was very down to earth. We bought 2 pairs of the Julbo Nomad X4's. Thanks Mr. Burns! I also bought a pair of Atomic Beta Ride 9.22's from a guy at FF a few years ago (not sure if he was the owner or some sort of upper management, but was one of the two). I picked them up at their factory. They were great and they even gave me and my bro a tour of the factory! I'll be back. Especially now that I see that the prices for everyday items are at par with near by competitors. I would say give them a shot again, if they piss you off twice go somewhere else.
  17. I am 5'11" and when standing my hand (palm) is approx 80 cm from the floor. I have an 85cm Trango Piolet Ultralight. I work with a woman that swears I am insane for having an axe over 60cm long. However I love the length. It is great for balance when walking, makes a bomb-proof anchor, is not any more difficult to arrest with than a shorter axe, and keeps me 25cm farther away from bears and cougars. Now if one of the primary functions of an alpine axe is as a "walking stick" why would I want a 55cm axe that forces me to hunch over rather than remain upright? Any opinions on this? How do you choose a length? Obviously shorter has advantages as the slope grade increases, but for general use.......?

    Got MILF?

MILF- MOTHER I'D LIKE to FU#@- A term reserved for older women that, despite having children are still very atractive, and worthy of some naughty time. This is NOT to be confused with a COUGAR. COUGAR- an older trashy/skanky lady looking for some young loving. Cougars usually prey in local/dive bars and can be found near the cigarette machine.
  19. The Falcon guide on Cascade climbs warns against crampons usage while glissading on Adams. But that is assuming that those that use crampons while glissading can read. BTW (IMHO) that Falcon Guide is pretty sweet. Great info, not dumbed down too much and not so technical that you have to be Becky to read it. Times seem to be about right on too.
  20. the first 15 seconds rocked. mmmmmmm, booobs. It would have been cool if I were German and David Hasselhoff was singing it. Boobs and Hasselhoff.........What happened to Bay Watch!!???!!

    Body Mass Index

At my current weight I would only have to grow to 6'11" to be in my "ideal weight". YAO KYLE. I like the sound of that!
  22. When I was down climbing from Muir last month a woman was glissading on her sleeping pad (pool matress)while wearing her MSR snowshoes(which she called her clamp-ons). it was pretty comical.
  23. Gear Critic or Ethics Critic????? I cheated on my college ethics exams....is that wrong?
  24. sweet that is just the type of info I was searching for. Thanks. How was the peak? Did you go 1 or 2 days? Thanks Doc And yeah, no kidding about the crampons. How stupid can you be? Everyone knows that you are supposed to glissade with one crapmon strapped to your face and one affixed firmly to your genetals! Duh.
  25. Anyone got any recent (past few weeks) beta on good 'ol #2 Mt. Adams. Looking to do the south side "cake walk". And yeah, I know read a book & call the rangers. But I would like to hear your info too. Besides I have a childhood fear of rangers ESPECIALLY that big hairy one that tells people to prevent forest fires. Spooky Smokey. Thanks for your help
