  1. Sweet, Thanks for the advice! It is a definite possibility as my bro has an extra set of Med Titanal I's lying around. But unfortunatley I just bought a set of the upgraded Naxos (A lot beefier). (If anyone has used the new Naxo NX01 NRS's let me know how you like them). So, I think I will go with those. I still have the titanals if anyone is interested. PM me and make an offer, keep in mind that I may be able to get the medium bars and a few extre toe pieces. If you plan on using them for AT they are great bindings. It cracks me up to hear people rip on all the different AT bindings and say how weak they are, and then read how they failed. When researching the NAXO's I read several complaints of the binding breaking after hucking a 360 or a 540. WTF!? That is why I have 2 sets of skis (1 piste, 1 off piste). If you are good to your gear and use it for its intended purpose it will last a hell of a lot longer. I can't imagine hucking anything but my hip with a 40 pound pack on.
  2. Josh, were you born with skis on? Does the word "snowplow" mean anything to you? Do you remember when you were learning? I understand your frustration. I have been skiing for like 16 years now and have been boarding for 3. It is frustrating (as a skier) to see boarders scrape down or just sit in the middle of a run. But you have to remember that some of these people are learning. Give them some slack. If you are on an intermediate or beginning run....gues what? There may be beginning or intermediate skier/boarders on that run. Just because your car can do 120mph does not mean you can drive 120mph through a school zone. At the same time I feel your pain. But I don't limit my frustration to boarders. If you are a beginner, stay off the blues and blacks. If you possess the skill sets to make your way down like a normal person on the blues and blacks, do it. Don't be some lazy ass sideways scraping, snow plowing butthole. If you are too tired to ski or board down, walk. Besides if you think you have it rough, try doing both. I find myself getting in fights with myself all the time. Sometimes I will run over my own ski tips with my own board just to be a dick. Then I will hit myself with a ski pole. It is a sad sad thing.

  5. OK, someone with sz 11+ boots MUST need bindings. I finally picked up a new pair, so I need to sell these. I'll drop down to $120 for the bindings and brakes. c'mon you know its a good deal! peace Kyle
  6. Probabbly just Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness. Suggests you did too much too fast and you need to build some strength and flexibility in the off-season. Ice and light stretching will be your friend for a while. I doubt it but it could also be chronic compartment syndrome. There are 4 compartments in your low leg. If one of them swells up it can cause pressure on arteries veins nerves and muscles. But this would cause a host of other symptoms. Given what you said I would bet on D.O.M.S. Dink lots of water or gatorade, eat right, get some potassium, work on your lower extremity flexibility, especially your gastrocnemius and soleus. Lastly, ice 'em down after you are done. It will help reduce swelling and pain. Ibuprofen or tylenol may help too. Good luck. peace Kyle
  7. Here is an interesting tid bit........... The pain you feel from stretching (at least initially) is due, in part, to a structure called the muscle spindle. The muscle spindle is a stretch receptor. Say you are walking down the street and you roll your ankle. The first thing you notice is a "reflex" that pops your ankle back into place. You don't dislocate you ankle, look at it, say "oh crap my ankle" and then movie it back of your own free will. That is the muscle spincle doing its job. It detects muscle fibers pulling apart (sliding fillament mechanism) and tells the brain something is wrong. The brain then tells the muscle to contract. Same thing happens when you stretch. You manually pull the fibers apart, the spindle thinks something is wrong and the brain contracts the muscle. SO, when you first start a stretch you are not actually stretching, due to you stretching and the muscle contracting. After 7-10 sec the brain shuts the spindle off, this is why after a few seconds of stretching some of the pain subsides and you feel you can stretch farther. That is why it is important to hold a stretch for 30 at least 20-30 seconds. Warming up helps, because warm muscles are more flexible and therefor more easily stretched.

  9. Congratulations on your safe travels and use of big pretty words. I appreciate the fact that you have learned so much from other cultures and have an inside view on how other countries operate. I have not yet been afforded such opportunities. I look forward to the day that I will be. My point was simply this. If you have useful, accurate information to share, don't spread it around like some pampas, arrogant, ass-clown that needs a ladder to climb down from his high horse. People will have much more respect for you, find your advice more credible and be more appreciative of said advice. In response to your reply, I have cups and mugs, therefore a gourd in not an "essential" item for me....just the mug. Secondly the Bombilla is not "practical" for my application. True it makes you look cool, but my simple Made in the U.S.A. pat# 5,967,019 "Cup-Pour-ri" is much more practical. Does that make me a bad person, a poser or a world-dominating American drone? No, it just means that I have a Made in the U.S.A. pat# 5,967,019 "Cup-Pour-ri" and I use it to make tea and coffee. And lastly, South Americans and people from the United States of America (you and I) have vastly different cultural traditions, one of those being our expression of camaraderie. I don't sit in a circle drinking tea with the other males in my tribe, the same way the tribes of South America do not get a keg, a bucket of 7 alarms from the "Wing Dome" and watch Monday Night Football. That being said thanks for your insight. I will do some research on the Guayaki. I will also check out the website for the less expensive stuff. Thank you for suggesting that I do so. I am not going to buy some "straw" for $15 when my $1.50 coffee filter works just as well. Who cares how it is consumed? I am no sociologist, but I am uncertain how the manner in which someone consumes a beverage determines his or her socio-economical status. If you are going to be an expert in a subject, pick something more substantial than tea. If you're going to be an expert, don't be a jerk about it. And what’s with the metric conversion? I happen to think that $933 per Firkin is a great deal. Besides I feel better about paying a little more, knowing that it will support local S.A. tribes and the WP zoo. And yes I am a Young (27) Urban (Seattle) Professional (AMA recognized medical care provider), or "Y.U.P.pie". How do you think I pay for all my equipment and my bunny killing SUV? Not by selling pot in Bellingham. I would rather be a yuppie than a hippie. So put down your Frisbee, get in your VW bus, drive home, and go take a bath with your hemp soap.   11. I believe both of the instructions for the tents I have (Kelty Ledge , TNF M25) suggest rolling the tent and stuffing the fly. Or maybe I am remembering that wrong. Maybe it was, that if you stuff your fly you are more likely to get a roll in the tent. That could be it. I would check your manual.
  12. They sell Guayaki Yerba Mate at the WP Zoo. It is hippy approved. 100% organic, rainforest grown, and the sale goes to help the environment and the local Paraguay tribes that grow it. It is a little pricey for the loose leaf $15 for 1/2 pound, but you get a pretty damn good discount (15% i think) if you are a zoo member. The bagged tea is like $10 per 1/2 lb (without the discount). Maybey a little more expensive but very good and direct from the source. The zoo is the only middleman. IMO the loose leaf is the way to go. It has like 4-6x the caffeine of coffee. Just make sure you use a press, an official yerba mate cup (kinda expensive), or what I found works great is the little green plastic "cup-pour-ri" thing for camping. If you use a regular tea ball the tea gets a bit...chunky. mmmmmm twigs! (tea)>>>
  13. Alright, I'll put these up again. I had a few people interested but they stopped contacting me so....... I have a pair of damn near brand new XL Fritchi titanal II's with return springs for sale. I used them once on piste with my size 12 DH boots. Then I bought Rondee boots. Problem is that my AT boot is a 10.5 and does not fit my AT binding. DOH!! I need to get rid of these so I can buy a pair of regulars. Again these are in brand new condition. They have the wide brakes also. I last saw the bindings on clearance for like $150+ and the brakes are still like $40 (I paid $50+). I initially started at $150 for the bindings and brakes, but I can go as low as $130. If you are interested gimme a hollar. Right now they are mounted to an older pair of 190cm Atomic Tourcap Lights (old orange, slight shape to it). The bases are great the camber is great, the tops are in used condition but still good. I would possibly consider selling them as a set. (edit: that would of course bump the price up a bit, Make an offer for the set) Peace
  14. Yeah I like the GoLites, But I do some AT and stuff where I need a pack that is a bit tougher. Again, does anyone have an opinion on Arc'Teryx? They seem to be pretty light but still tough and able to handle skis.
  15. You can use a product called Uni-Solve. It is used to remove tape residue from skin, but I have found it works great on fabrics. And it has an orange scent. But...there is a chance that your clothes could get ruined or your head could explode......just my disclaimer. (It really works well though). The only problem will be finding it. I work with the stuff daily ...so.....I got that going for me. You could also try peeing on the spot. It really wont do anything, but if you get frustrated it may make you feel better. good luck.

  18. Yeah I would probably shy away from buying oranges if some guy was standing next to them with a device that is beeping wildly. Mmmmmmm, Hanford oranges! That sounds fun but if I were you I would try it out when travelling. Put one in your suitcase and turn it to transmit. When you go to get your bags at the baggage terminal, find it with the other beacon. That should turn some heads.

  21. I have an ARVA 9000. I like it. Pretty easy to use, and has gotten good reviews from places like pistehors. It goes "beep beep beep"......good enough for me!!
  22. So I am thinking about updating my pack, and was curious what size pack others were using. Right now I have a 4500-5000 pack. It does the job and then some. It worked great for a 4 day trip around jack mountain. But I am looking to get a new pack for mountaineering. I am wanting to get the smallest possible pack. The equipment I have is pretty light and compact (insert joke here) and I have a Dakine 2000ci ski/board pack that I can nearly fit everything into...nearly. SO, anyone use like a 3500 for mountaineering? Am I smoking crack thinking that will work? If I smoke crack will it work? Where can I get some crack? Thanks peace cheers shalom skoal danka word!
  23. I have had 2 dogs with joint problems. After giving them Chondroitin/Glucosamine their symptoms went away, and they were up and running around. Dogs don't know they took anything so there is no placebo effect. I think that it is worth a shot if you have problems that warrant it. In my opinion, if it aint broke dont fix it. Me.....I'm broke.
  24. I have the same one and I have a Nike Ascent (watch style). I have also had Suunto's and Casio's. Much to the dismay of everyone here I think the guy at REI was right. I find that with the wrist watch I am always having to de-glove to dig it out from my jacket. Then, of course the temp is way off. If you wear the watch type you will notice that the reading is almost always around 81 degrees (which is the temp of your skin). With some (casio I think) you can adjust the band to go over your jacket, but my brother lost his that way. So......I like the clip. It is easy to get to and gives more "accurate" readings due to its exposure. Depending on what you are doing you may want to tape Hope that helps Cheers Kyle
  25. I once blew out my old Rossi 4s's in a big way. I decided to save some money...as I was in high school and had none...and made the repairs myself. I started with a really good epoxy, warming it so that it would fill he blown side wall completely, I then used more epoxy and fiberglass to fill the hole. I p-texed the base and reground the edges. Finally I airbrushed the sidewall white again. It was beautiful and the only way I could tell that I had ripped the edge off was that the Rossignol label was missing from the sidewall. I think I skied them twice before I cut them in half and turned them into furniture. SO...how bout a nice park bench?
