  1. If you say Dru's original post out loud backwards it sounds eerily like "I am a pink, spandex wearin' sport climber. Chicks really dig me cause' I'm an x-treme dude"

    It wasn't me

CascadeClimbers.com is not Jon's only web page. This other web page he maintains also out of a love of the subject matter: http://animalscience.unl.edu/sheep/sheep.htm

See everybody, Viktor does give a shit!
  4. Jman, Are you that anal that you're just waiting for someone to contradict themself? I don't care what you say, we all contradict ourselves many times over a lifetime. Or maybe not.
  5. I think they were a dot com casualty. They have not been updating anything for a long time
  6. "A goat within reach is worth two in the distance" Fred Beckey during a long romantic dry spell
  7. The new generation of LED headlamps. May not be good for glacier travel but great reading/emergency light and they weigh practically nothing. Oh yeah, and spaghetti straps! [This message has been edited by jblakley (edited 07-31-2001).]
  8. Climbing of all types is what it is. Who cares whether anybody thinks it's a sport or not..it's enjoyable either way.
  9. Our own Jon needs a lab assistant for his Sheep cloning operation. Main job qualification is to "work" good with animals.
  10. I propose a new regulation for us here at CC.com. Anyone who sprays or submits a TR about doing any kind of route will be subject to a piss test. Jon how quickly can you convert your Meth Lab over to a Drug Testing lab?
  11. Ditto, Lance is a god!! What am I on? I'm on my ass 8 hours a day pressing a keyboard hard! LOL
  12. One to add: Moons of Pluto. It's next to Screaming Yellow Zonkers. Beautiful arete with a nice little mini-roof pull at the end. Definitely in my top 5 list. For trad definitely Zebra Zion. I plan on going down this weekend (Aug 4th and 5th). Maybe we can hook up. Let me know.
  13. Hey Dr. Jay I bought a pair of 5.10 ascents earlier this year specifially for long trad stuff. Very comfy. I recommend sizing one or two notches above medieval for best results.
  14. Will, Good article in Rock and Vice. Well done. I think we all need to find the path that suits us well and do our best to stay on it. One thing I've learned is that my path is not "the" path and honestly my goal is to remove as much fear and expectations from my life as possible through some basic spiritual principles. That is until that son of a bitch in the QFC cut in front of me today in the checkout line. I showed that fuc*&er the path!!! LOL

  16. I guess that's my biggest beef with gym mentality. It can propagate a false sense of ability. Hero: "I can top rope 10a in the gym easily so a casual day of leading 5.9 at Index should be no problem" Next day at Index Passerby at Index: "What was the loud noise" Climber at Lower Town Wall: "See that guy up on Godzilla..that was the sound of his sphincter slamming shut" Hero: <gripped on Godzilla> "Mommy!" I started off face climbing and progressed to leading 5.10 pretty quickly, but when I started climbing trad I was pretty pressed to lead 5.8 and it took a good bit longer to start progressing up. I think Dan Cauthorn and someone else recently put out a good book on progressing from gym climbing to the great outdoors. Forget the title. Anyone read it? Is it any good?
  17. Yep double checked in my guide book at home. Pitch 2 of city park is 5.10b. Starts on the same ledge that Godzilla ends at. Kind of a thin start..used to have a shitty 1/4 bolt..then backs off to 5.8 or something. What pitch are you guys talking about? This is one of the approaches to get to Slow Chilluns'
  18. Kalun, I could have swore pitch 2 of city park is all free at 10b. Been awhile since I've done it so the mind may be a little fuzzy. That or the glue..lol [This message has been edited by jblakley (edited 07-24-2001).]
  19. Ok I'll jump on the semantics bandwagon...what the hell is a static fall? Anyway you look at it you're accelerating at 32 ft/sec ^2 right. Ok I know I'm skewing the context of this but I'm bored at work right now. :-)
  20. Lambone is just feeling a bit sheepish cause he was recently told that most people do Si in a day.
  21. Cocaine Crack bolted? That's rather fu*&ed up that anybody would think of bolting that. I can't say I'm in the die hard anti-bolting camp but that's total bullshit. That climb takes gear very well.
  22. I move for a change in the topic of this thread. New Topic: "Circus Clowns and why they should be put to death". Ok I expect to hear some intelligent retorts from all you clowns out there!
  23. You certainly know how to stir a pot.
  24. quote: Originally posted by Jman: bcd- Chill. These are only words intended to get you to think. Getting "pissed off" (as you say you are) kind of gets in the way of that (i.e. thinking clearly). I don't think my views are "extremist". It seems several others here share my views. "at least have some experience in the field your making judgements on" Do I need to be a greedy capitalist corporate monger of a industrial chemical plant to have a view on the right/wrongfullness of dumping toxic waste into Puget Sound? Do I need to be a snowmobiler to have an opinion as to whether or not they should be allowed on trails? Your "but-your-not-even-a-climber" attitude is exactly part of the problem. I'm not trying to find a negative. I'm trying to see if people understand the root of the problem. "climbers dont need you and your inexperienced point of view" That sounds rather extremist and rather selfish. I think you've illustrated my point very well. Let me correct you: Yes, you DO need non-climbers views as the land does not belong to just climbers (contrary to what you might believe). "as humans we CANNOT live without affecting our environment" That is true. But to what extent? Some things obviously are necessary. The question is: Are bolts necessary? [This message has been edited by Jman (edited 07-23-2001).] Wow, I'm not sure you know it but you come off very arrogant and condescending. That's the quickest way to turn people off to your message. Park your car and go live off the land and then you'll have a valid, humble platform to spout from. Until then I'm afraid my view is that you are someone self important and arrogant enough to think you can dictate policy for a sub culture you know little about. The people I look up to and trust in my life are those who teach by action and are short on verbage.
