Where did you find some one who works in miniature?
  2. I've been up to Devils Lake, but due to crappy weather didn't get any further. Let me know if you want some info on the approach.
  3. My wife used to give me all kinds of flack about climbing. I think now she is reconciled to it. Actually she is now taking a real interest in what I do. She is even looking through my climbing books and suggesting some climbs. Just the other day right after I increased my life insurance coverage she said “you know, a winter climb up that Willis Wall on Rainier looks fun.”
  4. Its the Everett basic climbing class - a field trip to assess conditioning.

  7. I've been using a 60 cm DMM Alpine Raptor as an inbetween tool. You can interchange a mountaineering and technical pick. So far I've been happy with it.
  8. DFA - Thanks for your every helpful input. I now feel exceedingly guilty for maligning you in an earlier post. I asked my wife who quilts and has a dohc 325 cu hemi powered sewing machine for her advice. She helpfully suggested “bar tacking them to your love handles, chubbo.” She’s still a tad touchy from hearing of my climbing plans for the summer. I’ll pursue your idea for removable loops.
  9. You could try self medication -
  10. Here is what I'm after - note the loop on the waist belt on the Cold Cold World pack. I'm looking to add something like that to my Arcteryx Khasim(sp)50.
  11. I'd like to add some gear loops to the waist belt of my climbing pack. Has anybody done this or know of a shop that will?
  12. I used a pair of the bottoms over the last year. The only complaint I have is the durability. I might get one more season out of them until the backside wears out. Otherwise they have been great. They have been comfortable over a wide range of conditions, from a March climb of Castle and Pinnacle to summer time on Ingalls to alpine ice on Kyes in September. I keep warm enough at belays, but don’t overheat while climbing.
  13. I've always liked this one -
  14. If you are looking for an easy tour, the road up to Rat Trap Pass off the White Chuck River road is fun. Not alot to see on the way up, but the pass area is very open with nice views of White Chuck. I took my daughter on this tour last year
  15. Anyone else not surprised at Trasks expertise in STDs?
  16. See the Wenatchee forest site here.
  17. These should fit. Trask Size
  18. I've got narrow heels and have had sporadic blister problems over the years no matter what combination of socks I've used. On a friends advice this year I tried runners socks as a liner. These are two layer synthetic socks. I wear a heavy weight Thorlo sock over them - no blisters this year!
  19. Build four foot high hollow combustion chamber from snow. Fill large paper cup with gasoline, ignite. Drop into combustion chamber, causing fireball to shoot out top. Extinguish flaming mittens in snow.
  20. quote: We actually put our lampoons on for the snowed over class 3 traverse to the notch Wouldn't a spoof work better in this situation?
  21. "Anchor (piolet ancre) — The anchor position gives you even more security. Hold the axe near the bottom of the shaft. Swing the axe overhead to set the pick into the ice. Now, front-pointing, work your feet upward as you move both hands progressively higher on the axe shaft. Eventually, one hand will be holding the axe head, similar to the low dagger position. At this point, remove and place the axe again."
