A little different question - instead of the location of a route or a peak, can anyone help me out with a location of a dense stand of birch trees somewhere "close" to Seattle? (I think close is probably something less than a 2ish hour drive.) A friend of mine is shooting a movie, and needs a stand of birch as a location. The movie is a documentary about the band "House of Freaks" and in addition to a stand of birch trees, the director (Kris Kristensen) is looking for people who are familiar with the band who would be willing to be interviewed for the film. The only requirement is you live "close" (probably that 2 hour radius again) to Seattle. If you're interested let me know, and I'll put you in touch! -- Matt

I'd vote for The Gritscone too. It's a relatively short walk, belay area is safe for kids, and you can walk to the top to set top ropes. It's where I took my son for his first real rock outing (he was 6 1/2) - ego pictures here: http://www.mattandmaren.com/200307_gritscone.html

How about conditions on the Beckey route? Is that where most of the crowds were heading? Could you tell if the ledges were snow free or if there was water running anywhere? Hoping to head up there this coming weekend... [ 06-25-2002, 04:48 PM: Message edited by: MattR ]
