Just over 3 miles of road (easy). You have to drive around cause the wa access is blocked. I went down to Hood River and then back up to the s route and area. The mountain is in good shape. BTW kaskadskyjkozak, the north side looked good, but it is a ways in there. I have some pics of the routes if you want, let me know...

Kaskadskyjkozak, Right now, sure. Unless you have a motor bike or some such. There is 10-miles of road on the Suiattle right now. They don't plan on fixing I believe until late summer, although I'm not certain about that. I plan on going in there soon if the weather is looking like it is gonna be friendly.

China (from my kayaking days) is the gorge there. Usually people pull off and check out the waterfall there. You may have? Anyhow, that's what china means, short for china gorge.

I'm curious what people have to say about this approach...stehekin into dome? I read a TR here somewhere and so know a few have been up that way. If there is good weather I may be going up there, but I will be going out that way not in. The weather could hose me and it may be a rain-escape. Even though I didn't want to ask, I may learn something that may be valuable in a rain storm . Ha. You never know. Thanks.

Right on, I skied that route last year. Good times. And, dang, lots of people getting up there this year!!! I want to get back...damn good ski. Story BTW, Beverly creek is shorter earlier season.

Nope, didn't climb up it. Ron, didn't take it because there was some ice and by the time we realized where it was, we were low. Hard to read where you are exactly on rolling slopes like that. I like sun, as for how good I skied it...i didn't groom it if that's what you mean Lix, thanks for the reply. The route certainly isn't chill, although I've done much worse. The upper hw is probably around 50 degrees, but the remainder is a good 45. I wouldn't want to fall, which on something chill, I wouldn't mind. It's a good route, if you are in the area and want to go, I could be interested or hook you up with someone who is.

I like sun, I've never heard of any other ski or snowboard descents other than the ones I've mentioned above. Which doesn't mean it hasn't happened. Being such a great steep ski route so easy to get to you'd figure someone would've skied it long ago, such as the guy above, but you never know? People often confuse the roman and coleman headwalls. I would be excited to hear someone did this back then. That would be cool. Hopefully this guy looks this thread back up.

I don't know the exact mileage, but you can do it in a long day trip (preferred to carrying overnight gear up myself). I know there is 3-4miles of road and another 4-6 miles to the base and then climb and ski all the way back. A good trip. Go get it!

Shuksan via sulfide is nice. Steep bit at the top off a flat glacier that you could skip or climb. White Salmon glacier would be nice too, but some steeper sections.

Some good ski traverses in wa. Lots more than this. But good ones are Nooksack Traverse (white salmon glacier, to nooksack, over icy and ruth peaks and out twin lakes road). Mineral High Route: Ruth to mineral to whatcom and challenger. Anyhow, too sick right now to think. I'm sure others will add.

Cool, there's been talk of getting out there for awhile. Glad you finally did. I'm jealous and the fact that I sat home with the hopes of studying and realistically only studied a few hours, doesn't make me feel better.

Well i like to be warm and I like to ski and spring offers both, but that doesn't mean that powder doesn't warm my soul, cause it does. It's been an awesome year, but I like diversity. No matter, I'll feel better about it after a weekend of sun, I know it.

Between 30 and 40. I can't wait for spring, and I can't say that enough. The sping corn is going to be great!!!

If I have time this summer I'd love to go Fairweather (I'll make the time if I have to). It'd be a fun trip, say, in late august. A day or two, makes no difference to me.

There is a TR somewhere online that talks about a one day circumnavigation. Should be a great hike, such nice areas out there.

The sherpa glacier is a good ski. Enjoyed it after backing off skiing the ice cliff glacier several years ago. Obviously much more reasonable in may, but winter could be fun, just may take several tries to find in good condition. I took this picture after skiing a very fun couloir opposite the ice cliff and sherpa (after backing off skiing the ice cliff glacier once again). Sherpa to the left and the ice cliff in the center. This was taken in jan or feb of 2006.

Bummer. I love skiing in that area during winter and spring, plus occasional kayaking. That road has been hit hard in recent years!

...Ore Creek snow park for those that don't know and it's about (guessing here) 12 miles from the trailhead. Right now I imagine you'd get to the parking lot/trailhead, but not for long. Also the road from the south is closed with no easy access around. From the north the 23 road is still open and the various backroads to get there. I know you know this now Dan, but i thought I'd put here for others who may not.
