Can you report on his injuries? I heard his fingers and thumbs were frostbitten. I imagine it's hard to climb without them, no?
-
He was a friend of many of my friends. Although I did not know him personally, it makes me sad to lose an outdoor lover during their pursuits. Especially given his young family.
-
In just a few short years this 🧵 will be 20 years old.

Sigh, that really is lame. Not really much else to say at this point. But, moving on... https://ascentoutdoors.com/ ...is great! Locally owned by a climber friend of a friend of mine. Also, I will be forever a fan of https://featheredfriends.com/ If you are up north, make sure to support Chris and the crew at https:// backcountryessentials.net/ along with our flagship sponsor, https://shop.alpineinstitute.com/ For just ski gear in Seattle.... https://www.proskiseattle.com/

I know it’s long been sport to rip on REI, I’ve even at one point torn up my membership after they pissed me off with whatever, but man they have fallen since the days back when they were on Capitol Hill. I even now know multiple really good people who work for them (or I think they still work for them…been lots of layoffs). But man they just keep digging deeper into the shite hole in my opinion. I admit I still do have a membership. Bought a pair of cycling shoes a couple weeks ago with the sale. But this kind of crap: https://www.usatoday.com/story/travel/experience/national-parks/2024/03/24/rei-signature-campground-grand-canyon/73085605007/ Its sad. The concept of a coop for outdoor gear is nice but they are instead of a corporate beast that lays off the people in the store who actually know anything and only hires seasonally to avoid paying benefits. With Promountain Sports going out of business where do you shop these days? I think our sponsor has an American Alpine Institute has a store up in Bellingham (never made it up during the right hours to check it out). There is the place in Ballard, that just moved to somewhere else (used to be Second Ascent). I’m talking places the actually have a good chosen selection of climbing, mountaineering, and skiing gear.

Maybe Easter Overhang at Midnight Rock?

Carnival Crack up in Leavenworth i think meets your criteria.

Howdy. I’m looking for partner(s) for an attempt at Rainier the third week of this upcoming July. In 2022 I had to turn around at Muir due to a team injury. DC route, if available. Happy to talk turkey, but my window is 7/18-20 (there’s some flex there). Cheers!

Awesome work!! Thanks again, Eric, for continuing to post your TRs here on CC! Here's Ryan Lurie's TR from the Feb 2006 trip. -
rbw1966 started following Terminal Gravity
-
I see some of the old crew still hangs around. Thought you might want to know that Terminal Gravity passed away on March 18th after a difficult battle with cancer. He was a good person and a great friend. Extremely generous and always helpful. I loved him like a brother and will miss him terribly. I’ll never forget our climbing trip to Bolivia and his determination and understanding. Fuck cancer.

Thank you for getting back on your assessment it's much appreciated. -
I remember Steve bringing Terminal Gravity beer to one or a couple of our events. Sorry to hear he passed away.
-
Been a while since I have been on here but just learned that Steve Carper, founder of Terminal Gravity, passed away a few days ago from cancer. Steve was always bringing beer to our gatherings back in the day, always willing to show you around the Wallowas when chasing obscure ice lines and just an overall fun and friendly guy. RIP Steve.

Reddside and Muffin Top at Trout are obvious candidates for the rainy months. Most of the other basalt cracks (Vantage and Lower Gorge) have too many features to resemble true Utah splitters. Boogie till you Poop in Squamish if you're headed north.

On gib ledges above the head it was frozen, run down ice - thick. That i can see sticking around for few weeks. I hope snow coming down today will deposit to add thickness to snow at climbers feet - that is was getting this in most exposed locations. -
