KaskadskyjKozak
Trip: Slippery Slab Tower - NE Face Date: 7/3/2009 Trip Report: Slippery Slab Tower is an easy, one pitch rock climb with a long scenic approach and beautiful views on the trail and from the summit. The climbing is not particularly aesthetic (and you scramble a 100 foot gully to get to the pitch), so the draw here is just getting out, getting some exercise in and taking in the views. We approached via Hope Lake and the PCT rather than Surprise Lake which is the same distance (about 6 miles), but more scenic. Beginning the switchbacks to Trap Pass. Slippery Slab Tower is the right-most pinnacle: The summit block: The NE face: Mountain pron from the summit: A view down from the summit. The relief is very steep, sharp and dramatic and this picture doesn't do justice to the fully exposed, aerie feeling: Gear Notes: Ice Axe, small alpine rack, up to 2 inches or so (Camalot #2). Approach Notes: We took trail 1061 (Tunnel Creek) to the PCT rather than the Surprise Lake approach. There were patches of snow from Hope Lake up to Trap Pass. Continuous snow above Trap Pass to the base of the summit block. Lots of water now, but snow is melting fast. Wild flowers are out!

Doug
Nice TR 5K. Did this one a few years ago from the Surprise Lake approach. Looks like you've given me a good excuse to go do it again!
KaskadskyjKozak
Nice TR 5K. Did this one a few years ago from the Surprise Lake approach. Looks like you've given me a good excuse to go do it again! Now you can do the other approach. ;-) A nice day out, especially since I could only spare a day for climbing this w/e.
