Trip: North Cascades - Sahalee Peak via Boston Basin

Date: 6/28/2016

Trip Report:

12:00 June 27th, 2016 started in Marblemount and drove to the Boston Basin Trailhead. Headed up the climbers trail for 2:30 before reaching the low camp, continued on further left of the moraine to 6200 where we set up camp for the night. Amazing sunset and views of Mt. Johannesburg as well as Mt. Torment and Boston Peak right above you. 6:00 AM June 28th began ascent of Sahalee Peak, followed the right up the lookers left side of the Quien Sabe Glacier, still filled in nicely still with a few open holes but nothing noteworthy. After reaching the Boston-Sahalee Col there is a 3 foot hole that is an easy step over. Continued up the ridge being sure to stay away from the large cornices and reaching the summit block. The last 40 feet is decently exposed low 5th class scrambling to the summit. Repelled off of the summit and reverese our ascent route after spending 45 minutes on the summit.

Gear Notes:

1 Axe, 2 Ski Poles, 60m 9mm rope (only need a 30m)

Approach Notes:

Climbers trail overgrown in places, be sure to be careful when crossing the three creeks.
