  1. This morning. There are a couple of routes still climbable. Look me up if you want to get on them in the next couple of days.
  2. I'm thinking of climbing something like Cosley-Houston tomorrow on Colfax. The road to the trailhead is open according to FS, the weather should be clear, and it's been freezing up there. I don't have any beta about the route conditions now, but I've seen a couple of reports of ascents since November. We would need to leave the car by about 4:30 or 5:00am to be back down about 7-8pm. The Glacier may be frozen but there was some light precip in the area today so skis may be the best mode of transport up there. In the end we may only need crampons however. Let me know! Jay
  3. Hi, I'm looking for partner(s) to climb the East Face of Sharkfin tower this weekend. I spoke with NFS this afternoon who had recently surmised the glacier conditions via binoculars, those of the Quien Sabe glacier may support the approach despite "late season" conditions we have been seeing around the Cascades. I'm thinking of a Friday afternoon or early Saturday departure to get to Marblemount by 6pm Friday or 7:00am for permits when the ranger station opens. After the CRR and Boston Basin approach, we should be able to climb on Sunday and do the descent/return that night. I have all the gear and can drive. Look me up! Jay
  4. Howdy ho, Most of my climbing time in recent years has been cragging and I'm jonesing to take advantage of the 3-day weekend to get one of these Cascade classics which requires that much time. Current candidates are: N Buttress Bear Mtn. Gunsight Peak Inspiration ( route I've not looked up yet ) N Ridge Stuart I've got rope/gear, although if you have a 70m 8.2mm double that would save me buying another Dragonfly. I lead up to selective 5.10s and could lead through the cruxes of these climbs with different degrees of competence and speed. I'm thinking of leaving Friday night around 5:00pm to get the drive done unless we do Stuart. We may be some weather on Monday but Sat/Sun currently looks good. Send me a PM or look me up at jdonovanallen@gmail.com. Thanks! Jay
  5. I'm looking for partners to do some cragging where it's dry this weekend ( Index or Leavenworth), or for next weekend. 707-986-8123
  6. I bought it on sale from Moosejaw before my trip to red rocks, but it they didn't deliver on the two-day shipping so I had to run out and get one from a local retailer. Now I have two, one has never been used and I'm the unused one for approx 20% off for $62.00. I live in W. Seattle, but we could rendez-vous to trade or I can just mail it to you. PM me if you're interested, thanks. J
  7. Hi, I'm looking for a climbing partner for tomorrow or Sunday for some cragging. I'm interested in doing routes around 5.8, 5.9. I have rack, rope. PM me if you're interested, thanks! Jay
  8. Interested in climbing in Leavenworth or someplace dry tomorrow. I expect the weather will be better there than on the W. side. I have rack/rope for but no car(!). I will split gas. I'm leading about 5.9 trad right now. It's been a light season for me so I'll need to stick to that or or take it pretty slow on lead. I'll follow up harder routes of course. I'm leaving for a friends farewell party at the moment, but leave me a msg. if you can make it tomorrow and where and when you'd like to meet ( I live in the U. District so it would be ideal to meet there but I could get to Eastside, or Downtown ). Leavenworth is a bit of a drive and I would be OK taking off pretty early like 6am or before. Thanks! Jay 206.973.7885 ( I have no mobile phone at the moment but I'll check voice mail, and PMs when I get home around 10pm )
  9. Hi, I'm looking for a partner to get out and climb something like Forbidden, Stuart or one something along Washington pass. Alternatively Vantage, Darrington or Squamish would work too. I've got all gear needed, lead about a 5.8-5.9. I don't have a car but can split gas. Thanks!
  10. I've just returned to native Seattle. I have a big interview on Monday, but would dig getting out for a day to Lilooet, or Vantage, I have no idea what's in. I lead about a 5.7 and about WI4 on ice. Have rack but no car but will split gas and have good tunes. I grew up climbing the volcanos here, learned to lead in the Gunks and Adirondacks but haven't done much rock and ice in the PNW. I'm free tomorrow and Sunday, PM me if you're around and interested, this WE or next. have a good weekend...
  11. I'm living in Lyon this summer and winter and not finding any sites online to connect with climbing partners. I'll probably go to Chamonix and Grenoble in the next week and hang out at the campsite, try and hook up with people. Anybody with exp. over there have any advice they care to impart about this... finding partners for climbing over here. Also if any NW climbers are coming this way, let me know. Thanks.
  12. I'm looking for a partner for Becky route on Liberty Bell, S. Early Winters or any kind of alpine climb tomorrow or Thursday/Friday. I'm jonesing to take advantage of the weather, and with limited time in WA, so I bring bananna bread into the deal. Please PM me, or email if interested. Thanks. jdonovanallen@yahoo.com Jay
  13. I just relocated back to Everett, after being in NY and climbing in the gunks for a few years. I'm leading about 5.6-5.7, but will follow up to 5.10. I have no car but a rack and double ropes. I build good anchors, textbook belays. Mostly I'm interested in going to Leavenworth and Vantage, but am open to any climbing. Please PM me if interested. Days that work for me are: Sunday, Monday or anyday after Tuesday next week.
