  1. I have the Prana Stretch Zion pants and they fit your specs pretty well. Light, cool, stretchy, not snug, not baggy, fit will, climb great, have the pocket, no belt, etc. They seem to be holding up well for me. I never thought I would ever wear anything made by prana but as soon as I saw them I could tell they were the perfect climbing pant and I dropped the cash for them. They're not even all that expensive. Wish I could say something bad about them so I don't sound like a commercial, but they really are awesome.
  2. Men's Kayland Apex XT (Size 8) - $140 I used them maybe 20 days total over a few seasons. Pretty similar to the Sportiva Trango in terms of insulation. Very breathable with eVent membrane. I replaced the laces with blue prussic cord. Has some cool ratchets to keep the laces tight. Scarpa boots fit me perfect and these are just slightly narrower/lower volume. Women's Kayland Apex Rock (Size 10) - $150 My wife used these twice - these are in really good shape. They are nearly identical to the boots above but have the original laces, do not have a front welt for automatic crampons, and they look better.
  3. I was there for the festival last week and the south facing climbs were in bad shape but most the north facing stuff was good. The last week in the south fork has been up and down temperature wise which I would think would mean good things, especially if they got a little bit of snow. South Fork Weather Station
  4. THIS is a good article, though a little more toward the real aid climbing side of things for the most part.
  5. Been searching everywhere... Where'd it go? It was supposed to be the greatest thing ever, but is it no longer on the market? Where in the world can I buy this crampon?
  6. I need 70m of stiff 5 or 5.5mm spectra/dyneema/kevlar/whatever tech cord for a rap/tagline. Ship to WY. I use paypal.
  7. Old thread, but I love these long johns so much I thought I'd put my story about them. Way before I got into ice climbing I was wearing these as long johns in the spring on a solo 4x4 camping trip way out in a remote desert area in SW Wyoming. It snowed at night and the next morning it was all melting and filling up all the washes. I had to conduct several stream crossings in my landcruiser in attempt to vacate the area and finally got stuck. I had to wade across the waist deep, near freezing water well over fifty times in order to dig, build winch anchors, run winch cable, etc. I wore no shoes or socks, and only these costco long johns, as everything else I had was cotton. The stream was rising and I was forced to work in the water for several hours. I think the fact that the long johns kept me warm while wet and were able to dry fast is the only reason I didn't get hypothermia and was able to keep working till I got unstuck. Now I use them every time I ice climb, and if I had another pair, I would cut the legs short and use them for skiing. They stretch well, feel nice on the skin, don't get stinky after a bunch of days, and wick and dry ridiculously fast. Seriously, the best base layer I've used, and way cheap.
