EricB and I went up to do this route. I was too fat so Eric had to carry me out.

His feet hurt and he whined a lot.

There was some minor wallowing but it was mostly in good shape which is more than I can say for myself. We got to the Col late and downclimbed the route from there.

I dropped a glove from near the top on the way down. It made it all the way to about 200 feet above the bottom.

Eric will post some pics and tell a bunch of lies.

First the truths....

 

1) no floatation necessary until the lake - hiked the road in my tennies, and schepping the skis to the lake was of marginal value due to highly variable wind-affected snow.

 

2) Yes, I whined....I don't know that I've ever hiked 10 miles in my rando boots, and my pinky toes paid the price

 

3) Bug certainly has a self depricating sense of humor, but to avoid any confusion, he's fat...that's a fact. That said I was happy to burden his fat ass with the rope, since he hardly noticed it.

Oh, BTW, Eric is a great guy to climb with.

He moves fast, keeps going, skiis well, and has everything he needs.

 

One of the things he needs is his own tent.

Many strange noises were emmanating from his end of the lake.

Sweet, great pics! Not bad for a fat ass. How was the road? You don't by chance have any beta pics on Stuart?

 

Jordan...the only view of stuart is the one behind me in the background at the notch, so not sure if a close-up of that aspect would help you. The road was closed, but packed enough for hiking....I had running shoes on.

Good suggestion. I like that run and have not done it since early fall.

And I could run anywhere more often.

And I could brush the dust off my Bowflex.

And I could stop eating too much.

 

It ALL must change.

 

I prefer my diet:

1) eat and drink whatever I want

2) burn calories through strenuous exercise

That works when I can be active. I had tendonitis in my knee all last summer and couldn't do much. Now I have to burn all that off. Meanwhile, I am old enough that I need to be careful with my joints. At about 40, men stop producing as much cartiledge. Add to that, every pound above your knee adds 4 pounds of force to the joint while walking. Glucosamine is part of the diet. Loosing weight quickly is part of the prescription.

Climbing hard again is the goal.

Thats what I thought too! He was bitching about his skies as we passed him on our way out as well.

 

I thought the road up in the morning was great, the way out SUCKED!

 

If you mean his skis, he didn't have any...tvash was on snowshoes.

 

The road out was quick on skis :)

You mean those things on my feet weren't skis? So that's why they didn't turn worth a damn.

 

We skied the road, stashed em, and snowshoed from there. We usually bring rollerblades, too.
