I'm pretty sure we've got the current closure list posted at the store, just inside the doorway. Call the shop 1 877 892 9092

After noticing people on millenium falcon this weekend it was apparent some people were still unaware of the falcon closure.

here it is..maybe this should be a sticky?

As of May 8, 2007 - Notice to Rock Climbers:
Since the mid-1980’s Peregrine Falcons have been returning to nest in the Dihedrals Area. Climbers have observed a voluntary closure to protect the nesting falcons from disturbance. Following up on this effort by climbers, BC Parks is now placing restrictions on certain routes.
Please store all food and other bear attractant items in the storage lockers located throughout the campground.

Closed Climbs (Closed until July 31, 2007):
Millennium Falcon Negro Lesbian
Sports Illustrated Crap Crags

Cloudburst Slow Dyke
Sea of Tranquillity Illusion

Getting Down on the Brown Planet Caravan
Supernaut Warriors Wasteland

Clean Corner

Freeway (above 5th pitch), The Big Slick, Brothers in Arms

Western Dihedral (4th pitch and above)

No new route activity between Negro Lesbian and Freeway. Route closures may change pending peregrine falcon behaviour.

Open Climbs
Arrow Root Rutabaga
Cleaning the Brain Sticky Fingers

Deadend Dihedral Slow Duck

Freeway (To the top of 5th pitch) Time Passages

Western Dihedral (To the top of 3rd pitch)

Yes, the 2008 Peregrine closures are still in effect. This thread has been ressurected from last year and so Fern's comment above was relative to the normal end of the 2007 closure.

Yes I started the thread, still in effect is a misnomer since it was just implemented in the last 2 days, although it appears that it is much later this year than years past.

Nice to see some folks got on Europa this weekend before it was closed for most of the summer.

Do you any of you folks work with the raptor biologists on the monitoring in order to get it open as soon as possible?

Then that makes it a hell of a lot easier and more transparent.

AFAIK a fellow who is a squamish resident and a climber and a professional biologist scopes out the falcons and lets BC Parks know when and where the birds are nesting. That is why once in a while the closed routes and dates change (eg. a few years back the birds moved closer to the Grand Wall than normal). It's a targeted closure that aims to keep as much climbing open as reasonable while still respecting the birds.

Recent reports are suggesting climbers are not obeying the closure, keep in mind the falcon closure is now in effect. Europa, Millenium falcon...are all closed
