111 Posted August 3, 2006 Share Posted August 3, 2006 I am heading off this weekend to climb washington and 3 finger jack. I have been up washington but never 3FJ. If your going to rope up for TFJ bring some long, like 20ft slings for anchors and 2 24" runners for fixed peices on the crawl. Some large nuts will protect the last pitch. dan_forester Posted August 3, 2006 Share Posted August 3, 2006 lots of people solo 3FJ but given how crumbly the rock is on the last pitch I would recommend roping up. Â I don't think lots of people solo 3FJ. But it is certainly soloable. Â Be careful on the loose rock. It killed a friend last year. After she soloed the hard stuff. Couloir Posted August 7, 2006 Share Posted August 7, 2006 Spent the weekend at Canyon Creek Meadows (via Jack Lk.). Beautiful spot and we had the place to ourselves. Yes, lots of mosquitos, but the meadow is in full bloom now. The route is in as much as it will ever be (which isn't saying much). No snow. Echo the precautions mentioned above.
