A friend of mine got married to Tyler's sister a few years ago. I hung out with the wedding party at a rented house afterwards and met Tyler. I was already familiar with his avatar here and was happily surprised to meet the unassuming person behind it. We hung out late into the night.

Tyler seemed just really good at life, and I was sorry I didn't get to climb with him or see him again. I suspect most people who met him felt similarly drawn to him. He was a brilliant and exceptional person.

My last CC conversation with Tyler some time ago, I think I sent him some photos of the late Greyell on Illusion Wall:

“got a boner lookin at your pictures....

lets climb? bolt some slab? when can we get into some granite slab to bolt from the ground? fuck cracks”

We miss you Tyler, RIP

Sorry to hear this, I never got to climb with him. Seemed like a good dude!

"For what is it to die but to stand naked in the wind and to melt into the sun?

And what is it to cease breathing, but to free the breath from its restless tides, that it may rise and expand and seek God unencumbered?

Only when you drink from the river of silence shall you indeed sing.

And when you have reached the mountain top, then you shall begin to climb.

And when the earth shall claim your limbs, then shall you truly dance."

Kahil Gibran

Based on the huge attendence at the memorial, Tyler touched a lot of people, including myself. We'll miss you. The poem on his memorial:

Still round the corner there may wait

A new road or a secret gate.

And though I oft have passed them by

A day will come at last when I

Shall take the hidden paths that run

West of the Moon, East of the Sun.

-J.R.R. Tolkien

I plan on putting up a memorial route to Tyler next spring in the Owyhee, a tower we scoped together but did not get a chance to climb.

I am thinking the route might eventually be called the Tyler Adams Memorial Route: West of the Moon, East of the Sun.
